Amazon.com Review The beauty about a dish like this 4-quart casserole is that its classic, clean lines make everything look extra tasty. Cover with the matching porcelain lid so a casserole retains heat while in the oven and later to keep the dinner warm until it's time for seconds. This dish is wonderful for baked pasta dishes--whether it's creamy macaroni and cheese, baked rigatoni, or good ol' tuna casserole with crushed potato chips on top. Small handles on the side give fingers a resting place during transportation. --Dana Van Nest

4 Quart Oval Casserole January 12, 2008 Hank Cayenne I originally intended to purchase a Pyrex casserole, but liked the appearance of the Cordon Bleu 4 quart. Tried it out during Christmas and was very pleased with its performance. Recessed handle is perfect for liftng with kitchen tongs and good protection from getting burned. Glad I didn't get the Pyrex. I agree with Kelly's review. The surface is smooth and polished. The handles, lid and container, cannot be grasped even wwith a towel. Terrible problem when hot.
Don't get burned December 13, 2000 kelly gilman (Pittsford, NY USA) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
This dish is attractive and is a good size and weight for larger casseroles. It also seems to clean up easily, although mine is fairly new so I've yet to see how lots of baking will affect that nice white finish. The one negative aspect, and it could be a big one, is that the top on the cover is indented in a way that makes it impossible to take the cover off with a pot holder. This is extremely frustrating when you are trying to take a quick peek at a dish as it's baking. I have only been able to grab the top to remove the lid with a dish towel, as it's thinner than a pot holder, but also less protection from burns. Depending on how much that might bother you, you may be better off with another dish that doesn't have this design flaw.
