I cherish all of my Pyrex glass storage containers; they last forever, they don't stain, and you can quickly see what you have stored in them. This is their smallest round size and we use it often. It's the perfect size to hold leftover sauces, gravies, and vegetables.
Another good use for this small bowl is to store wet or dry baking ingredients "on hold" for a recipe you'll be making later on. If I know I will need to bake or cook on a very busy day, then I will get the ingredients ready a day or two beforehand and store them in my Pyrex bowls. Then I just toss it all together on that busy day and have a wonderful, homemade recipe finished without too much trouble. This size is great for nuts, chopped onions, etc.
If I could choose only one type of storage container for my kitchen, Pyrex flat-bottomed storage containers would definitely be my choice! However - I would not purchase this bowl individually. I'd purchase the Pyrex Storage 18-Piece Round Set, Clear with Blue Lids. This 18-piece set is priced at just over $3.33 per bowl, which is a GREAT bargain! And you'll get a fantastic assortment of sizes as well.

I love these for storing leftovers, baby food, etc and the size is great for small portions for my toddler and infant. The best thing is that it's glass so you can pop it in the microwave without worrying about plastic leaching into your food. I just wish it wasn't so pricey - otherwise, I would buy 5 more!

I love this size! I think it's great to store leftover corn or beans without having to use a size way to big for what you need. This size and the 3 cup rectangle are my favorite pyrex sizes.
