Love it! January 9, 2009 Online Shopper (Seattle, WA USA) This is a great purchase. It was the first time we ever make this filled pancake and it was a great success. I chose the item because I didn't want to get the kind with non-stick surface that would come off over time. It worked pretty well as long as you add enough butter before pouring in the mix and turn the pancake when it is ready (the first couple times I turn it over too soon and had to clean the pan out before pouring in another pancake. So the timing is key!)
amazing aebelskivers January 7, 2009 likes to cook Got this pan for my sister for Christmas. We used it the following morning and with the exception of the first aebelskivers in each cup it worked perfectly, the second aebelskiver in each cup came out without sticking.Pre-seasoning is the way to go!
Cast Iron is the way to go December 10, 2008 Robin C. Kidd (Fayetteville, GA) PURCHASED DECEMBER 2008 - I love this skillet. So much fun and "gourmetish". Since iron will outlast aluminum, I will always select iron cookware. Turning the pancakes got easier after cooking the 3rd batch. Just be sure and grease after each batch using a cooking oil & a brush to apply the oil.
My family loves it! November 9, 2008 Christina Martin (Washington State) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I chose this aebelskiver pan for several reasons: it is cast iron and will not bend, it is a good price, and it has larger wells than many other pans. I have a large family, and it would take far too long to make enough aebelskivers for my family if the wells were smaller, as they are on most of the other pans I viewed. I was not disappointed. This is a no-frills pan, but it works very well, and will last a lifetime. It is pre-seasoned, extremely sturdy, and works well. It heats evenly, and makes good-sized puffs. This is a no-frills package. It does not come with recipes, a turning stick, or pancake mix, as some of the others do. It does not have a wooden handle or nonstick coating; but wooden handles can break, and nonstick coating will eventually scratch and become ruined; a well-seasoned cast iron pan can last generations. Recipes are available on the internet, a knitting needle makes the perfect turning stick, and pancake mix is easy enough to buy or make. Besides, special recipes aren't even necessary. The aebleskiver pan works great with muffin mix, ordinary pancake mix, buiscit dough, or many other products. You can add stir-ins to make them sweet or nonsweet snacks or meals. I recommend this pan wholeheartedly. Cooking was never so fun.
Love it! So cute! October 14, 2008 Pucca (Chicago, IL) I received this for my birthday last year, and I love it. I have only used it 3-4 times so far, but it's always a hit. I use the recipes on the Williams-Sonoma website for the batter and play around with the fillings on my own. I usually keep the heat pretty low fearing that I will burn the pancakes. I use various tools to flip them - spoons, chopsticks, fondue forks. I just never have skewers around the house! They don't really stay perfectly spherical all the way around b/c they will flatten when they are resting on the plate. I try to remember which hole I filled first so that one gets flipped first. I find that the middle hole gets the hottest so after it's been on the stove for a couple of batches I'll stop using that hole altogether. I've used a canola oil spray and melted butter, but I think I prefer the melted butter.
