Product Description Clay pot cooking is one of the oldest traditions to prepare easy and healthy meals while sealing in nutrients and cutting down on the need of fats at the same time. Cooking with the Romertopf roasters will not only keep important nutrients but will also save you cooking time and increase the flavor and tenderness of your meal. Romertopf clay roasters are available in different convenient sizes and ideal for oven or microwave use. The roaster is easy to clean and perfect to serve your meal from the oven right to the table. Preparing healthy meals the natural way is easy and fast: You soak the Romertopf in cold water for 10 to 15 minutes, or until you are ready to put the food in the roaster. Simply put your ingredients into the Romertopf - place the roaster into the oven - set your oven to the desired temperature and you are done. The Romertopf will do the rest and cook your food to perfection for a healthy and full-flavored meal. This small sized Romertopf clay cooker holds 3-5 lbs. (1 3/4 qts.) and is ideal to serve 1-3 people.
Amazon.com Review For centuries food has been cooked in earthenware pots over open fires or in brick ovens. Roemertopf carries on this tradition by crafting clay pots and dishes specifically intended for cooking a variety of vegetables, meats, casseroles, and breads in the home oven. Manufactured in Mexico, each vessel is made from unglazed and porous terra cotta containing no lead or cadmium. Before each use, the pot is soaked in water in order to absorb a certain amount of moisture into the permeable clay. This moisture is slowly released during cooking, sealing in the natural juices and increasing the flavor and tenderness. Covered in a bounty of sculpted agricultural motifs, and with a built-in handle, the Roemertopf 1/2-quart baker can be used to prepare a small chicken, a meat and vegetable stew, or a casserole for a family of four. Measuring 7-1/2 by 11 inches and standing 6 inches tall, the baker can go straight from the oven to the table and can be used as a serving dish. Intended to be used only in the oven, Roemertopf recommends washing all clay pots by hand. Due to their porous and unglazed nature, the pots should not be exposed to extreme temperature changes. --Lea Werbel

If you enjoy tender, fabulous roasts it is a must have! October 27, 2008 Sandra Stammler (Warrenton, VA USA) This product is wonderful and I highly recommend it for healthy, homecooked meals. The meat is always tender and with adding veggies, garlic, etc. the flavors are mouth-watering!

If you are thinking about getting a clay pot cooker, GET ONE OF THESE!! GET SOME OTHER ONES, TOO, OF DIFFERENT SIZES!! They are great to cook with. Quicker and easier than with a crock pot slow-cooker. And my goodness, is the food tender and juicy and good and deeeee-licious!
Really, really small August 24, 2007 C. Keeney (Magnet, IN USA) 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
Clay pots are great for chicken but this one would not hold a chicken. This is the size of a bread pan and I'm going to use it for that because they say bread baked in a clay pot is wonderful. I already have a clay pot for chicken but I wanted a smaller one but this one is really too small to cook a chicken in, unless your were just doing pieces of chicken. The actual bottom is only 4 1/2 inches wide by 8 inches long. It does have flared sides though, and that's why the measurements are listed as being bigger. I will update this when I bake bread in it, because I think it will do bread well.
Love it June 8, 2007 Thomas G. Falvey 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The only possible cookware to use for making a daube. Also makes any roast (beef or poultry) unbelievably tender.
