works well, made solid, easy to use and clean April 7, 2008 K. Engelthaler (Phoenix) We have used this 2-3 times per month for 9 months now, and love this batter dispenser. It is easy to fill, easy to use, doesn't drip, and easy to clean (just make sure you rinse it right away, so you don't have to clean out dried pancake mix). It is easy to make our pancakes come out round and uniform size each time.

I don't know how I was getting along without it. Great for making "silver dollar" pancakes. Works great with my Pro KitchenAide Belgium waffle maker as well.
not so glad after all... November 13, 2007 Captain Jack (Crozet, Virginia) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
January 2008 Update: When I first reviewed this product in November, I was thrilled with it and gave it five stars. But after using it about a dozen times (I bake a LOT), I'm not so happy with it anymore. I had to call Villaware and they're replacing it for me. The plastic "washer" on the bottom started to slip, which I noticed when it leaked water as it sat in the sink, soaking (it had water in it; it wasn't sitting in water). Before I use it, I have to push it back up, but the metal piece that covers the bottom and slides back to release the batter is sharp enough that it has mostly sliced through the washer! The lip of it is falling off, and that lip is likely what keeps it from leaking. I'll probably use it until it starts to leak but even with a replacement on the way, I'll start shopping for another. It did have trouble with batters that had a lot of chips or coarsely chopped nuts in them, and can require a big squeeze as it empties the batter, but the overall concept is still awesome and I would recommend finding one that has solid reviews. I was impressed that Villaware is overnighting me a replacement and would still consider their products if the replacement is problem-free. Oh, and it has a 27-ounce capacity, not 17 ounces as the description states. Here is my original review, which I deleted: Nov 2007: I recently started baking a lot of mini cheesecakes, and it took forever and made a mess if I used a spoon or ladle to fill the pans. This batter dispenser is great...you just pour the batter in and squeeze away. It literally took me less than a minute to fill 12 cheesecake cups; so fast, in fact, that I thought something was wrong because it was slowing down. I was almost out of batter already! It has a large enough opening that little chunks like apple bits, chips or nuts don't get stuck, and the bottom is angled so that you can use a small spatula to push batter toward the opening as it's emptying out. I've used it twice, both with a thicker batter and a thinner one, and it didn't drip either time. You have to check the bottom, though, when you're done dispensing. Depending on how much you had it open and how quickly you release it, some can slip past it, but that's normal, just like when you pour batter from a bowl and there's some on the edge that drips off. Mine didn't leak one bit, and clean-up was a breeze. If you bake a lot of cupcakes, muffins, or other small treats, or like to do pancakes, I would definitely get this. Now if only preparing the cheesecake batter took so little time!!
This product doesn't work September 13, 2007 Stan Foster (Texas, USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I thought this Batter Dispenser would make it easier and more fun to make pancakes for the kids. Instead, it just dripped all over the counter making huge mess. I looked to see if my unit was defective and it did not appear to be. I have returned this and gone back to a soup ladel. The ladel works and makes it easier to spread out the pancakes. Save your money. This is a good idea that doesn't work.
V035-42000-U00 Batter Dispenser March 15, 2007 Mr Cervantes I am please with this product I tried another which look more fancy but actually it was hard to clean. This one holds a lot of batter, it dispenses quickly and is easy to clean.
