Product Description
Not just another cruising cookbook, Southwinds Gourmet: Easy Recipes from a Cruising Cook, is a highly entertaining collection of stories and recipes. Written by Susan Garrett Mason, the book is not a matter-of-fact listing of recipes in a bland, here-they-are style. Instead, the book imaginatively explains the history of many foods, along with stories of how the author became acquainted with the recipes. The stories are every bit as enjoyable to read as the food is to eat.

Susan started preparing these delightful meals while cruising with her husband aboard their boat in Florida and the Caribbean. She refined the recipes to accommodate the small galleys, tiny cooktops, and limited counter space of most boats.

Sailors know there are many things to do while cruising other than spending time in the galley. Therefore, each recipe is easy to understand and quickly prepared using readily available ingredients. Southwinds Gourmet shows it doesn't take an experienced chef in a huge kitchen to prepare meals that are simply sublime.

As a testament to the quality of the cookbook, all 100-plus recipes in the book originally appeared in Susan's long-running food column in Southwinds sailing magazine. A food column runs that long only if the stories and food are great.

Even if you never intend to step foot on a boat, you can still enjoy this great cookbook and all the quick and easy recipes it contains.
