Pressure canner capacity October 21, 2008 Darla Colburn 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
One of the reasons I bought a pressure canner was because you could use it for pressure canning as well as boiling water bath canning. When I read the instruction manual for the canner, I found out it is not tall enough to do quarts in the boiling water method. You can only use it for pints in the boiling water method. I had to buy a boiling water canner to do quarts when I thought I would not have that additiional expense. The canner works fine for pressure canning but I am dissapointed I had to buy the second canner.
Very pleased October 15, 2008 M. Beard (Arkansas) I am very happy with my cooker. I use it several times a week since there is a lot of things I want to preserve.
Great product October 15, 2008 V. Tiernan (Northern New York) I have been using my mother-in-laws canner for the past 26 years. It was old when she gave it to me! I decided I needed a second one this year to speed up my canning process. The new one is excellent. The fact that it is lighter makes a big difference also.
Using this on glass cooktop October 8, 2008 michigan mom 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I didn't know if I could use this on my Kitchen Aid glass cook top, so got advise from the manufacturer and my appliance store first. It works! The cook tops are capable of canning; be sure any canner used on glass has a FLAT bottom to make full contact with the element. I've lost pressure once due to lack of water inside the canner. Processed with 800 ml of water in canner next time and worked great. My double element is having trouble holding pressure constant, though. Had to babysit the heat; once the pressure rose to 11 lbs, I switched between 3 and 4 to maintain that. I'm having fun - I've made applesauce and canned salmon so far.
