Leaking Mess September 1, 2010 Amy Creager For a week or two this cup was great! I loved everything about it...
Then came the let down. It sprung a leak - and I noticed that when I was taking a drink it was dripping from the seal of the lid. Now wearing a coffee stained shirt and using a cup wrapped with a couple of napkins and a rubber band to contain the leak - I will order a better version of this and hope for the best.
(Note - I ONLY hand washed this cup at work, and the leak was not a result of a dishwasher)
Good idea, poor execution. July 31, 2010 TR I bought this because I wanted to save money by making my own beverages instead of paying outrageous cafe prices. I liked that this one claims to be dishwasher and microwave safe. I washed it by hand and then poured hot water to make my tea. I heard a popping noise but didn't see anything that would have caused it. About half an hour later, I saw a raspberry colored crack along the side of the cup where my tea had seeped through. The popping noise I heard while making it was the ceramic cracking. If it couldn't even survive a hand wash and hot water, there's no way it could survive the dishwasher or a microwave. The water wasn't even boiling; it came from the office water cooler.
At least I now have a cute cup to hold my pens. Save your money and buy something sturdier.
AWESOME July 6, 2010 zachary I absolutely enjoy this product and everything about it! The thing that was most important to me when I was researching similar products was the fact that this one is made out of ceramic material rather than plastic. Somehow putting hot drinks into a plastic container just never seemed quite right with me, and now with all of the BPH scares, it seems that ceramics are the way to go. It functions well, I haven't had any problems with the lid coming off or anything like that. Just stick it in the microwave an go! Awesome product, sold and shipped in completely recyclable material. Nothing short or awesome.
Not that great May 26, 2010 C. Stowe (Palm Coast, FL USA) I don't have any experience with other cups of this sort but I have been wanting a travel mug that was both dishwasher and microwave safe and so I purchased this cup. I am using it for the first time today and the silicone cover is so loose fitting that every time I take a sip, the coffee is just dripping down the side, getting all underneath the silicone sleeve, and getting coffee rings all over my desk. On the enclosed paper, it says that if the silicone cover does not fit snugly, to discard and replace -- this says to me that even if your mug doesn't leak when you first get it, it will after a while. I am sure there are better alternatives.
Great Mug May 12, 2010 S. R. Arienti This cup is great. I like the sleeve and it keeps my coffee warm (or cold) for my 45 minute drive to work. Would definitely buy another. It's been 2 months and not one leak for me. I found this comment on another site so people having a leaking problem can try it this out: Hope it helps....
Play with the lid - they shouldn't leak. If you place the lid on one side and then slowly seal around, the lid stays secure and doesn't leak. Putting it straight on can result in air bubbles in the seal.
