fabulous must have... February 20, 2008 KNSudha (Saratoga, CA USA) It does stick a great deal if you don't season it occasionally. And true, its an odd shape. I have an old old stove with tiny burners right now, and it takes close to 10 minutes to heat up evenly on these awful gas burners, and doesn't do a great job if you put a second batch on right away because of the cold spots. but it used to work great on my thermador professional gas stove that had large burners pumping out lots of BTU. Works great on a standard electric smoothtop for my s-i-l too. PRO: Love the compact size, doesn't get in the way of other dishes while still providing a lot of grill space. Fabulous to be grilling stove top in all weather without a fancy stove or pulling out the BBQ. I wouldn't dream of using toxic non-stick coated grills that spew out toxins when heated to grilling temperatures(surely well above the recommended 400 degrees F for non-stick?) So cast iron like this one is definitely the way to go for grilling. Con: Probably worth the money over say a lodge only if you are looking for matched cookware to your existing le creuset pieces since the grill surface is simply like the inexpensive lodge pre-seasoned cast iron. I personally would not have bothered to buy it, it came as a freebie with my 7 something quart le creuset dutch oven from amazon. (That dutch oven BTW is worth every penny!)
great indoor grill December 26, 2007 J. Muchnik (ny, ny) Great for city dweller with no access to an outdoor grill and a small stovetop. The cast iron infuses food with smoky flavor and it's actually easier to clean than I thought.
Convenient size-no problem June 10, 2007 Yolande Maarsen (Covington, Kentucky) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
While some don't like the size of this grill pan, I find it easy to work with. Just position the middle of the grill pan over the burner and heat slowly for even temperature throughout. The fact that 3 other burners are free while I grill meat on this grill is helpful in cooking other dishes for the meal. The patina does take a while to build but now I use very little (if any) grease to make it nonstick. I found that cleaning works best with a quick soak after the grill cools. Just some dish soap and enough water to soak the grill for 20 min or so was enough for easy cleanup with a plastic brush. Before the patina develops, there is a bit more careful cleanup but this diminishes over time. I've enjoyed this grill for over a year and it is a staple part of my kitchen.
LeCreuset Grill is the best!! May 29, 2007 Culinary in Chicago (Chicago, Il United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this grill, any grill will spatter from the fat from the meat. I never put oil on a grill, it will only dance right out. 99 % of all grill pans on the market have low sides?????????? Adding a cover wouldn't be grilling. The secret to heating is: put it on your burner and let it heat up slowly regardless of where your burners are, you can use 1 or 2 I do it all of the time. You just have to let it sit and heat till the whole grill is hot. I love this grill!!! My cooktop is solid, so it cleans right up!
The SkinnyGrillSatin BlACK TURNED OUT TO BE THE BUSTED UP CHESTNUT SKINNY GRILL March 9, 2007 J. H. Stair (Atlanta) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Skinny Grill Satin Black came in chestnut brown and brokken to pieces. Still waiting for some relief in terms of a credit. I feel like the guilty party ,even though all I did was give them my hard earned money and trust that they would deliver a product to me. So far...computer form replys!!
