Amazon.com Review Pressure cookers have experienced renewed popularity over the last several years because cooks have rediscovered what some cooks (particularly grandmas) have known for a long time--they're really fast. And it's easy to cook healthfully with pressure cookers, since the food retains so much more of its nutrients and flavor. Presto's 6-quart aluminum pressure cooker is a multi-purpose pot that can stand in as a conventional soup pot as well as perform the kitchen magic that pressure cookers are famous for. Chicken Cacciatore cooks in 8 minutes! This durable, polished-aluminum pressure cooker is an economical addition to any well-rounded set of kitchen tools. The heavy-duty lid locks down during cooking; an inner sealing ring keeps the steam in. In addition to a pop-up pressure indicator and a simple steam release mechanism, there is an overpressure plug that will let off steam if it builds up excessively. This pressure cooker is useful for weeknight dinners or for any meal that needs to come together quickly. An accompanying booklet contains more than 65 recipes, ranging from basic soup stocks to stews and pot roasts--even desserts like 5-minute custards! Tenderize lean cuts of beef or pork; or cook chicken, fish, or vegetables faster than you can in a microwave, and without losing moisture. Nonabrasive cleansers are best for cleaning this polished aluminum pressure cooker, though occasional use of a fine metal polish will help the exterior keep its shine. The Presto 6-quart aluminum pressure cooker is fully immersible; in addition, the sealing ring should be removed after each use to allow cleaning of the inside rim of the lid. The vent pipe is simple to keep clean with a small brush or pipe cleaner, and both the air vent/cover lock and the overpressure plug are removable. The pressure cooker measures 9 inches in diameter (17 inches including handles) and 8-1/2 inches tall (including lid). Presto guarantees this pressure cooker with an extended 12-year warranty. A detailed instruction and recipe booklet is included; special safety issues that pertain to pressure cookers are clearly explained. --Garland Withers

Good pressure cooker December 1, 2008 Inna Yakobson (New York, USA) It is really nice and simple to operate pressure cooker. Three level of protection, easy to close and good insulation. Not giving five star, just because after very fist cooking, I found out some kind of spots on inner side at the top. These spots are not removable, but visible.
Presto - A cooker for cooks November 23, 2008 Ed Bragg (Bellaire, TX United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
How can you go wrong with an Aluminum Presto Pressure Cooker? After all, that's the cooker that was used by my Mother over sixty years ago. As I recall, she never replaced it - just used it regularly until she died. I believe my sister wound up with it. Stainless may look better and last longer, but does not conduct heat as well as aluminum. I won't use it as often as my Mom did, so this cooker will surely last the rest of my life. I'm 65. Besides, aluminum is such a bargain. I could see no reason to spend almost twice as much for stainless. And certainly not two to three hundred dollars for so-called luxury brands. All that's required is a safe cooker that holds a head of steam. The Presto has been doing that for almost a hundred years or more.
Great pressure cooker September 23, 2008 Jie Zhang 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is my first pressure cooker and it works fine. I used it several times since I bought it 2 weeks ago. So far there is no problem with cooking at all. A few points: (1)I feel that there were a lot of residual lubricants and aluminium dusts from the manufacturing process after I got my cooker, so I washed it really carefully + scrape it with a hard sponge to remove metal dusts, as I don't want those stuff in my food... It might or might not be the right thing to do though. After I started using it, I don't feel that complusive with removing all metal traces any more. (2)It might be the problem of my water quality (I am in St Louis), or it might be a normal phenomenon, that after I put water in the cooker overnight, the soaked surface stained dark... The new one was really shiny and metalic looking. The metal must have been oxidized (or whatever). It happens with cooking food, too. But after using for a while the inner surface become evenly stained and lost that metalic silvery shine, and I wasn't too concerned any more (because it started looking like the old pressure cooker my mom uses at home). (3) I found that even without the overpressure plug, this cooker can be used as a slow cooker on very low heat, and it worked really well. (4) I went to the Presto website and ordered an additional overpressure plug. It is very easy to order replacement parts there, and it is cheap too ($3 for the plug + $2 for shipping). And when I canceled my order (as I thought I lost the first one and found it later), they respond very promptly. I am very satisfied with their service.

Terrific product September 2, 2008 P. Rochester (Southern CA) After 39.5 years, I wanted a new pressure cooker & opted to get another Presto. Am so pleased with this product. Important: If you are new to pressure cookers, read the instructions & read them again; then, just before you begin, read them again! Have always had great success with my pressure cooker & am enjoying my new shiny one. Well worth the investment.
