the product description includes "seamless construction for easy cleaning" -- this is false. At the Y of the handle, the two branches come together into a tight seam that runs up to the handle.
other than that - pretty lightweight little mashes but I haven't used it yet so I can't comment on functionality.

I purchased the WMF Profi Plus Stainless Steel Potato Masher as an appreciation gift for my coworker. She has used this in the past and was very pleased. Though I never used the product personally, removing it from packaging I could see how well made masher was and durable. Happy with design and materials. Another of American Test Kitchen's favorites, the WMF masher is a work horse. It looks delicate, but it is solid and sturdy and has a handle long enough to work in a 6 qt. Dutch Oven. It is as good as a ricer and faster.

My old-school zigzag-style masher did a terrible job, so I would usually resort to the electric mixer. Better, but not lump-free. This masher, with its small holes, acts more like a ricer but is much easier to use, in my opinion. My potatoes were mashed in a flash, with no lumps. I don't understand how anyone could think this is not an immense improvement over the old-style mashers. This masher is a little pricey, but is so well-made and solid, I'll probably be heirlooming it to one of my kids someday. Cook's Illustrated got it right again!
