Product Description If we had to pick the three knives that form the basis of your kitchen tools, this would be the set. Included are the 3.5-in.Paring, the 5.5-in. Utility, and an 8-in. Chef's Knife. It's a great set for the home gourmet who's just getting started or wants to upgrade an outdated or lesser-quality set of cutlery. Chicago Cutlery, makers of quality cutlery since 1930, introduces its Insignia Steel line. Unique to this line is the taper grind edge, blades that offer the ultimate sharpness and remain sharper over time. A combination of carbon and chromium provides sharp edges and a tool that resists rust and stains. The full tang allows greater balance, durability and strength, while a triple-riveted handle insures safety and stability.

This knives are pretty sweet. I've had them for about 8 months now and they've stayed relatively sharp - they were very sharp when I got them. They're easy to clean, there is no way for the handle to come off since they're one solid piece of metal, and they have good balance. I've found the combination of the 3 sizes to be versatile enough for all my needs (cutting, chopping, slicing, dicing, throwing, paring, etc). The chef's knife will slice a tomato thinly no problem without squishing it. Besides that, they look balla as hell in my kitchen. Lots of compliments, especially from the ladies.
Good deal March 10, 2007 M. Reeves 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Great set of knives. Holds an edge and takes a sharpening. Good weight and balance, a good set for most cooking tasks. I wanted all metal knives and these are just what I was looking for. Added bonus: Ever seen those metal soap-shaped bars that say they will remove garlic smell from your hands, well it's just a reaction the garlic has to metal. Using these metal handles does the same, works great for garlic smelly fingertips. (of course rubbing your hands on a chrome faucet works too.)
