Product Description Designed with molded, slip-resistant plastic handles ? so the ideal knife for any job is always easy to identify. Set includes a 4.5" serrated spreader, a 3" paring knife, a 4" utility knife and a 2.25" bird's beak paring knife. With Henckels-quality, high-carbon stainless-steel blades. Manufacturer's lifetime warranty.
Amazon.com The brightly colored handles on the four knives in this set strike cheerful notes in the kitchen, while the blades, stamped from high-carbon stainless steel, have all the shapes required for small-knife tasks. There's a 3-inch low-point, straight-edge knife (yellow handle) for cutting fruits and vegetables into thin slices, a 2-1/4-inch curved-blade knife (blue handle) for peeling and shaping, a 4-inch classic paring knife (green handle), and a 4-1/2-inch serrated utility knife (red handle) with a rounded point for slicing tomatoes. Handles are textured for a secure grip even when wet, and the lightweight knives prevent wrist strain when kitchen chores stretch out. These knives are dishwasher-safe. --Fred Brack

Size and brand confusion August 17, 2008 Squirrel Geek (Walnut Creek, CA) These knives are very sharp and sturdy. In addition to all the other reviews, I wanted to point out a few things that may not be apparent prior to purchasing: 1. The handles are all the same size and length for all four knives. If you're used to handles that are about the same length as the blade, this may come as a surprise. It's not a bad thing; it just takes some getting used to (especially with the smallest curved blue knife.) 2. The blade is on the opposite side of what a novice might first think. (I don't know why, but many people think the curved side of the blade is the sharp side. It isn't. Don't cut your fingers.) 3. There are two versions of this color four-piece paring knife set. One is made by J.A. Henckels (the higher quality brand made only in Germany) and the other by Henckels International (the value brand made in China.) They are not the same set of knives, but they look almost identical and come in similar packaging. I noticed that some of the reviewers had some negative comments, and I presume that they might have mistakenly been referring to the Henckels International version, widely available at Target, or possibly one of the many copycat versions not made by Henckels at all. Hope this note is helpful for those looking to purchase the right set of paring knives. Happy cooking!
Rust after second use ... July 14, 2008 Sue B. (Speedway, IN United States) I was delighted to receive these knives, and even more delighted after using them. But then came the disappointment ... rusting after two uses (already!) on the blades. Package clearly says "dishwasher safe." There is no good reason to handwash this knife, given it's materials & price. I would have been better off picking up the 4-piece set of Chicago Cutlery paring knives for under $4 ... at least they won't rust in the dishwasher.
Great little knives February 25, 2008 Amanda (California) Highly recommend this set of knives. I use them all the time for everything from cutting a piece of fruit to slicing cheese. Love the color coded handles too. They are very sharp and the blades are nice and fine (thin). I got them to replace a very old set of Henkels paring knives. If you take care of these, they will last many years.
Good bargain February 8, 2008 Scoutyspice (Orange County, CA) My mother was in need of paring knives and I read the reviews on this set and decided to get them for her. They arrived while I was visiting her for three weeks and I used them daily. They feel good in the hand. The handles are long enough and the blades are thin making them easy to maneuver when coring apples, peeling potatoes or sectioning oranges. The blades arrived sharp and overall they seem to be a good bargain. I will be ordering a set for myself as they are a good compliment for any existing knife set. Just remember that they are 'paring' knives, designed to cut fruit and vegetables in the hand more than to slice or chop on a cutting board.
Good, easy to find knives July 22, 2007 J. C. Sharp (Central Valley, Calif) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Got these for use in the RV - the colored handles make them easy to see in the drawer - no accidents! Nice product - especially at this price.
