Product Description Equip your kitchen with a set of knives from one of the most esteemed names in cutlery. Representing value, as well as a recognized brand name, these knives never need sharpening and are economically priced. As well as the basics for food prep, this set also contains six steak knives and a bounus fork-tipped tomato/cheese knife.
Amazon.com Review The blades in this set of slim, lightweight knives are stamped in stainless steel, and their edges are microserrated and therefore touted as never needing sharpening. The handles are formed of tough polypropylene and are seamless, allowing for better hygiene. The set includes six kitchen knives, six 5-inch steak knives, and a rubber-footed wood block that has slots for them all. The kitchen knives include an 8-inch chef's knife with a curved blade for rocking through a chopping task; a 5-inch tomato knife with a narrow, curved blade; an 8-inch bread knife; a 6-inch utility knife; a 6-inch boning knife for meats, poultry, and fish; and a 2-1/2-inch paring knife for peeling and cleaning vegetables and fruits. As a bonus, a pronged-tip knife designed to slice cheese and spear the slices is included. While the knives are dishwasher-safe, they should be hand washed to preserve their edges. Unlike Henckels's premier knives, which are made in Germany, these knives are made in China; however, they do carry the company's lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack What's in the Box 8-inch chef's, 5-inch tomato, 8-inch bread, 6-inch utility, 6-inch boning, 2-1/2-inch paring, six 5-inch steak knives, hardwood block

Good value; price + quality September 19, 2008 JohnnyC (Alexandria, VA (USA)) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There is a nice set of reviews out for this product (except for the most popular one, the dissertation on buying knives, which is interesting, but irrelevant to this product). Given that, I just wanted to add my voice to those who note that this set provides a nice mix of price and quality. Sure, these aren't the best knives out there. But they're cheap, and they're sturdy. They have worked well for us around the house, for eating, and daily food preparation. The blades and handles will last, and will provide many years of use. I will be the first to acknowledge that there are knives out there of higher quality. And while the discount here on amazon looks impressive, it is a bit misleading -- there is no way these knives are worth the list price. But for the price -- again, that is the dealmaker here -- I think you can do yourself and family well picking this set up. If you don't want to spend several hundred dollars on daily-use kitchen knives, I think you have found a good choice with this option.
Value for the $ September 7, 2008 Laurens Dehaan (Oakland, CA, USA) I bought this as a house-warming present for a friend, and though they're not the classic Henckels knives, for the money they are definitely a good buy. Good heft, very sharp and for the low-key cooking she's going to do I expect them to give her very good service.
Inexpensive Knives August 8, 2008 S. Williams (Oakland, CA) This is the third set of Henckels International Everedge knives I have purchased. They are used in a corporate work environment & for the price have served us well. They have retained their edge while being used for basic breakfast/lunch employee prep.
Decent Set June 25, 2008 Robert E. Mccormick (Key West, Florida) Not a high end quality knife set at all, and the knife block is not fitted to the knife set very well. On the other hand the set is sharp, and well rounded variety of knifes.
Amazon's description misstates the size; it's smaller June 8, 2008 D. J. Gulliford (Colorado) Amazon's product description states: Product Dimensions: 15.4 x 8.9 x 5.3 inches I was concerned that because of the stated height it wouldn't easily fit under the light above the kitchen counter. But I figured that for the price I'd take a chance and find someplace else to put it. However, the actual size is: 3.75" wide, 7.25" deep, and only 11" to the top of the top knife handle. It's on the counter under the cabinet under the light, and there's plenty of room to grab that large handle top knife! I've only had the set for three days, but so far although not impressive it seems to be quite sufficient for the purpose and good value for money.
