Product Description Next to your favorite cutting board will rest this utility knife, perfect for slicing smaller vegetables, making sandwiches and preparing salads. Chicago Cutlery, makers of quality cutlery since 1930, introduces its Insignia Steel line. Unique to this line is the taper grind edge, blades that offer the ultimate sharpness and remain sharper over time. A combination of carbon and chromium provides sharp edges and a tool that resists rust and stains. The full tang allows greater balance, durability and strength, while a triple-riveted handle insures safety and stability.
Amazon.com Review For small- to medium-sized tasks that don't require the heft of a chef's knife or the delicacy of a parer, this versatile 5-1/2-inch knife is an everyday must-have. Shaped much like an elongated paring knife, it cuts sandwiches, slices small cuts of meat, pares large fruits, and chops small vegetables with ease and sleek, contemporary style. Durable, well-made, and moderate in price, Chicago Cutlery's Insignia Steel line is ideal for cooks who are looking to step up to higher-performing cutlery but don't want to break the bank for a set of famous-name German knives. Made from high-quality stainless steel with carbon for edge retention and chromium for rust and stain resistance, they feature a contemporary satin finish that lends an elegant look to any kitchen. The true test of any knife, however, is its blade, and Chicago's heavy-duty forged version makes the cut; its exclusive Taper Grind edge produces impressively precise slices and retains sharpness well over time. Because the handles are hollow to reduce overall weight, Insignia Steel knives might not feel as perfectly weighted as knives twice their price, but a full tang, forged bolster, and the ergonomic design offset any imbalance. Triple rivets secure the handle to the blade for increased stability, and the seamless, one-piece construction cleans up easily and quickly for long-lasting beauty. Chicago Cutlery covers their knives with a lifetime guarantee; they recommend hand-washing and drying for best results. --Mary Park

Cuts like a Knife February 19, 2007 Cole Brodine (Kearney, NE United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This Knife is all one piece, so bending and breaking isn't an issue. It has stayed sharp quite a bit longer then other knives we own. (I found this out the hard way by cutting myself) I definitely recommend this high quality knife which seems to be more reasonably priced then many of the competing knives.
