5 out of 5 stars mis en bouche   May 22, 2008

Yes these dishes are tiny and at $24.00 too expensive. But for the sale price I think they are worth it. They are adorable and the perfect size for dipping sauces and pinch bowls.
And I expected them to be tiny since the description says that they are the perfect size for a mis en bouche.

1 out of 5 stars USELESS! Waste of Money   February 29, 2008

How disappointing. The other reviewers say it all. Way way overpriced. I have always loved Emile Henry products and haven't minded paying the price for them, but these are way out of line. I can't believe Amazon is selling these. Not up to their standards in my opinion.

4 out of 5 stars Nice mini dishes   November 5, 2007

I got these free with another purchase. First off, there is no way they are worth nearly twenty-five dollars for the set of four. Emile Henry ware is expensive, though. And they are tiny and should not be called "casserole" dishes. I likely would have been peeved if I had purchased these for full price.

However, I have come to love these little dishes. At first, I thought I would never use them, but I do use them frequently. I consider them more like a condiment cup / ramekin. They are nice quality ceramic and the colors are pleasant (not too bright). I use them to hold olive oil for dipping bread, for ketchup and dipping sauces and to hold spices. They are great for melting a couple of tablespoons of butter in the microwave. They are really cute dishes and I have been happy with them. Five stars for quality and function, reduced rating for price/value.

1 out of 5 stars YEP--these are MINIATURE and could only hold a casserole for a doll--or maybe a hampster   September 9, 2007

The first reviewer nailed this. These are SMALL sauce dishes. They would hold clarified butter if serving lobster or perhaps catsup for fries. They hold a little less than a quarter cup of liquid. The product dimensions are WRONG! These measure a little less than an inch tall and are about 2 1/2 inches wide--2 7/8 inches wide at the handles. To give you an idea of the inside dimensions, a PartyLite tea light comes almost to the top rim with about a 3/8 inch gap between the tea light and the rim of the dish. VERY SMALL if you are planning to make individual casseroles.

The cerise red is not as nice as the old red--not as much depth of color. The Cerise has more of a brick tone to it. The Azure Blue is nice, but doesn't have the brilliance of the Cobalt. The Citron is reminiscent of the harvest gold of the 70's. The Vert Green is a shade that would team well with other shades of green, red, pinks, yellow or purple/plum.

For free as part of a promotion, they are not impressive. At a price point of $24 for purchase they are a RIP OFF! There are too many other Emile Henry cookware items to choose from that are exceptional to bother on these.

2 out of 5 stars Misnamed   September 3, 2007

This item - by no means can be classified as actual casserole dishes. They are so tiny that they are more suited to condiment holders or individual dip holders. One has already chipped. Not worth the cost, for how tiny they are. In comparison to the ramekins that I ordered by the same maker, these are more the size of 2oz. The ramekins are 6 oz and cost the same for the same amount received, 4. At this price, I would not recommend anyone buy these. And I would recommend to the maker, rename them. Miniature Casserole Dishes does not suit, unless you are talking about a toy kitchen for a child.
