This lacey design was inspired by an antique transferware place setting. The innovation of copperplate engraving was 'transferred' to pottery in the 18th and 19th centuries, newly allowing fine details to be rendered on ceramic glazes. The luminous fine china French Knot dinner plates are encircled with delicate filagree patterned bands. Accent plates are intricately laced with a border-wide network of tiny filagree dots, like a deft hand-embroidery, or an exquisite T?nder lace.
