For formal dinners, only a rimmed soup bowl will do, whether for lobster bisque or cold gazpacho. The four rimmed bowls in this set are smaller than some, measuring 8-1/4 inches in diameter, but contain just enough soup for a whet-the-appetite first course. Made of beautifully translucent white bone china, the bowls bear the textured platinum rim of the Rochelle pattern, which consists of a simple chain design accented by raised platinum beads. A thinner platinum line defines the inner edge of the 1-1/4-inch rim where the bowl begins. Bone china is actually stronger and more forgiving than most people realize, and stands up well to everyday use. Rochelle Platinum dinnerware is elegant yet understated, with platinum imparting a more modern look than the gold-trimmed Rochelle.
