Product Description This item is sold in sets of 6. Bread & butter plate measures 6 inches diameter. Set of six. Includes one each of the following motifs: Daisy, Convolvulus, Narcissus, Cyclamen, Blue Primrose, and the Pansy. Pictured in the Pansy. These plates are perfect for bread, a small salad or dessert. Designed by Susan Williams-Ellis, Botanic Garden is a stupendous and innovative pattern. The famous Botanic Garden pattern was inspired by an antique horticulture book. About thirty different flowers are strewn across the collection. The whole mix and match pattern is unified by the style of drawing, the flitting of butterflies and the distinctive leaf borders. The Dinnerware range is made of dense, high fired, white earthenware that is resistant to chipping and breaking. This ware is ovenproof to 170 degrees Celcius/340 degrees Farenheit and is microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe. Made for day-to-day use.
Amazon.com Review Inspired by 19th-century botanical illustrations, Portmeirion Botanic Garden dinnerware features a lush array of hand-painted blossoms. The pieces are perfect for a mix-and-match sensibility and suitable for year-round dining. Made in Britain from high-quality porcelain, they are safe in the oven, freezer, microwave, and dishwasher. Sized for bread and butter or petite desserts, these Botanic Garden plates feature six different floral illustrations in vivid colors and painstaking detail. The plates have a coupe design, making them handy for vinegar and oil dipping, and a slanted rim trimmed in graceful laurel leaves. Six in all, the plates feature clusters of cyclamen, pansy, bindweed, primrose, daisy, and narcissus. The illustrations are labeled with the flowers' Latin and common names in a clear typeface. Each plate measures 7-1/4 inches in diameter. --Emily Bedard

Beautiful but beware of the size June 3, 2006 Emily Bronte (CA, USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Excellent quality plates and excellent delivery through Amazon. However, be advised that these are called 6" Plates (BG05092) by Portmeirion, not "Bread and Butter" Plates (Portmeirion info on their B&B plates = 5"d; BG03704). As specified by Amazon, the full diameter on these BG05092 plates is 7.25" (I have no idea why Portmeirion calls them 6" - I put a ruler up to them, and precisely 6 inches of diameter doesn't fall anywhere obvious), and they are definitely larger than the typically-sized B&B plates. I like the larger size, as they can also be used for small salads or averaged-portioned desserts. If you're looking for the daintily-sized B&B plates, though, don't let the name of these fool you. They aren't Botanic Garden's formal B&Bs.
