This classically styled Chinese Rosewood jewelry box is 9" wide, 6" deep and 4" tall. The inside is lined with a luxurious brocade fabric with ring holder on either side. The top of the jewelry box is adorned with a traditional longevity symbol made of cast brass. The chest is small enough to fit on a vanity or bureau top and is short enough to be hidden away under a bed. It is constructed from fine quality rosewood with a brass latch and antique style lock and key. Rosewood is highly valued throughout Asia for is strength, grain and rarity. This style of the jewelry box has been a mainstay of Chinese design since at least the 15th century and was likely first introduced to Europeans via the famed Silk Road.
