Product Description Following the success of the Nova Brown pattern, Sango has come up with a new design also inspired by handcrafted pottery. The simple shapes provide uniformity and a sense of calm, while the reactive glazes make each piece a unique expression of ceramic artistry. Contrasting matte and gloss textures add another layer of interest. Tones range from pale ochre to rich brown to hints of purple and blue. Due to the nature of this product each piece varies in color, there are also minor surface irregularities.
Amazon.com Review A bowl of rich, brown onion soup topped with melted cheese and caramelized onions looks divine served in these gorgeous, color-complimentary bowls. For that matter, a small pile of straw would look delicious served in these bowls. Various hues of silky, cinnamon, taffy, cafe au lait and espresso browns "splash" together in this sumptuous, glazed stoneware from Indonesian ceramic company, Sango. Because of the way each piece is crafted, they may vary slightly in color, making each one a true original and more special. Offering a full 16-ounce capacity, these bowls will make the soup course a surefire hit. The set is designed to pair with all tableware pieces in the Splash pattern, but they would do just as nicely alongside any brown-, black-, green-, gold-, blue- or white-hued tableware. The Splash pattern is bold and sophisticated enough for entertaining, and simple and durable enough for everyday use. Oven-safe to 350 degrees F, the soup bowls can be filled and popped into the oven to stay warm while hosts spend more time with guests. The handle allows for easy, one-handed removal from the oven. Transport two at a time to the table. For a quick reheat, the bowls are also safe to use in the microwave. When the meal's over, the set cleans up easily in the dishwasher. Don't fret over serving food on a glazed finish. Sango's in-house services include testing of lead and cadmium releases, and their tableware complies with standards set by the US Food and Drug Administration. Betsy Herring

Beautiful bowls / great value November 7, 2008 K. Peters (Apex, NC USA) I have the mixing bowls and soup bowls -- yes they are 'partially glazed' and that is their charm. Rustic, casual and beautiful. And they go in the microwave or the dishwasher. I love them.
so pretty September 30, 2008 S. Gordon I love this set, they are pretty and fairly durable. I have started a collection.
Broken soup bowl - poor packaging June 19, 2007 Kathy (Charlotte, NC United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Received soup bowls yesterday, very poorly packed, with only one piece of packing paper separating them from each other. Therefore, one was completely broken and now must be sent back. Also, ordered "onion" soup bowls assuming they could go in the oven to melt the cheese on top of the soup - this is what you do with an "onion" soup bowl - only to find they are not ovenproof. Very disappointed with Amazon!
SANGO SPLASH March 17, 2007 Sussana Smit (Annapolis, Maryland United States) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I just love this set so much I have everything you can get in it. I ordered 3 sets of the onion soup bowls, my only complain 2 of the bowls arrived broken, the handles was broken of. So instead of the 12 I wanted I just have 10. I think something should be done about the way this stuff is packed.
Poor Quality February 22, 2007 Sue Marie Dimartino (Staten Island, NY) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
These soup bowls are very breakable, two orders received were damaged in shipment. Many imperfections, and very hard to clean. I would not recommend them to anyone.
