Product Description This 5.25-in. Utility Knife is hardworking. Excellent for preparing snack, sandwiches or salads. Great all purpose knife for those with small hands or those that feel more confident working with shorter blades. Loved by professional chefs around the world, Global knives are an excellent choice for the serious home cook. The thin and razor sharp Global blade allows the cook to cleanly slice through foods, preserving the integrity of the ingredient and maximizing its flavor. The majority of Global knives are ground to a straight point rather than the western style of beveling the edge. To balance their knives Global uses a hollow handle that is filled with just the right amount of sand to create the correct balance. The handle has its own unique darkened dimples for a non-slip grip. Because the knives are very light weight they reduce hand fatigue. Global knives have a smooth contour and seamless, all stainless construction that eliminates food and dirt traps. Global knifes are forged in Japan from CROMOVA 18 Stainless Steel, a blend of 18 percent chromium for good stain resistance plus molybdenum and vanadium which gives excellent edge retention.
Amazon.com Review Global knives are appreciated for their sleek, cutting-edge design and quality stainless-steel edges, and this 5-inch utility knife proudly continues the Global tradition. The razor-sharp edge cuts with striking efficiency, resulting in a neatly sliced tomato, cheese slice, or lime. The blade is constructed of ice-tempered and hardened stainless steel, and its edge stays sharp far longer than similar blades while resisting rust, stains, and corrosion. Put a Global knife in your hand and you'll notice its lightweight comfort and delightful balance, which is especially handy when slicing multiple fruits or veggies for a large gathering. The knife features thin blades and a hollow handle, and it should fit in many (if not most) knife blocks. Hand washing is recommended. --Rivers Janssen

Good but pricey November 7, 2008 E. King I purchased this Global knife after seeing that Anthony Bourdain recommended Global brand knives. I chose this size because [1] I'm an amateur cook with skinny hands and [2] because it's half the price of Global's other knives. I'm happy with the blade and it's comfortable in my hands. However, it simply doesn't feel like it's worth $50. Global's water sharpener will make it easy to care for this blade, but I just can't rationalize buying another Global knife when Forschner knives are so much cheaper. In fact, I have 2 Forschner knives sitting in my cart for future purchase. I must say, however, that this knife has met my needs. Owning it has made me cook fresh food more often--difficult for a single college student--and it has made prep much easier.
A real thing of beuty! July 20, 2008 Jack Bech - This is my first high-end knife so I can't really compare the quality to anything. But as for design - it really is a gem. Beautiful design, very nice to hold, lovely finish. - Buying on the net, it's really hard to tell the size of the knife. You know the length, but still it's hard to really get a feel for it. This knife is medium size, if you want something big then consider a different one. For me, it's great, not too small not too big.
Global 5-inch Cooks Knife May 6, 2008 P. Johnson (Pengilly, MN USA) Handy knife, scary sharp. Good entry item if you are considering Global. Check this befor popping for a more expensive Global. Very happy with this item. A few swipes on a diamond steel, better than new every time.
perfect size January 18, 2008 Dcool7 (Milwaukee) Love the brand and the size is good for tasks where a larger knife is not needed.
Fantastic Global Cooks Knife June 8, 2007 D. Hyde (Canada) This is our second Global knife. We also have a larger version of this and decided it was time to grow our set. The handle is excellent with a comfortable easy girp. The knife cuts so smoothly it will make you wonder why you didn't make the investment earlier. It makes cooking that much more enjoyable when you have the right tools to get the job done. We have also purchased a small pearing knife as the prices on amazon were such a bargain compared to what our local store was charging. If you're not sure what brand of knife to buy I would definitely recommend Global. We have had a large cooks knife for 2 years and it is in just as good shape as the day we bought it.
