Product Description Egg Rite Perfect Egg Timer, Changes Color As The Egg Cooks, Perfect Eggs Every Time, Carded.
Amazon.com Review From the "What will they think of next?" department, this 21st-century egg timer takes the guesswork out of cooking eggs. Placed in a pan with eggs, its internal sensor reacts to heat just as the eggs do. It's like being able to peer inside a cooking egg to see what's happening. The timer's red face is calibrated to indicate soft, medium, and hard--and stages in between. As the timer heats up, in precise synchronization with the eggs, its face darkens from the outer edge inward, displaying the eggs' current status on the calibrated gauge. Because the timer heats in step with the eggs, it automatically adjusts for the amount of water and number of eggs in the pan--even the altitude at which the eggs are being cooked. What a concept! --Fred Brack

Great Kitchen Tool January 6, 2009 Peg Wentz (California-and loving it) My husband ordered this and it works great. Now you know when your eggs are done!
Excellent January 5, 2009 Ivan Tamayo (Cali, Colombia) For many years I tried to cook boiled eggs as I liked them... but it was very difficult to know the exact point. Now, I can eat eggs just as I want to. :)
Junk. December 30, 2008 Nolan Gokey (Madison, WI United States) Junk. I'm having the opposite problem than those who already wrote reviews. If I drop this thing in, the pot boils and boils and boils, but the colors never change. I pulled my eggs out (hard boiled), and left it in there for over ten minutes to see if it would ever change, but it did not. A real egg timer is probably the way to go.
You can not live without this December 29, 2008 J. Czukor (Martinville, VA USA) I love this egg timer. The only way to make soft boiled eggs without cracking the shell. The egg timer goes in the pot of cold water with the eggs. You can stop the boiling at any desired level. I have been using these devices for decades. Many have not heard of it so it makes a good present. The thermochromic layer that shows the actual condition has a limited lifetime. So every few years it the egg timer has to be replaced.
Sharon December 22, 2008 Grandma959903 (Chouteau, Oklahoma) I have purchased several Norpro Egg Rite Egg Timers in the past for myself and family members. It is a must in my kitchen and I recommend it to anyone who wants a perfect boiled egg!
