 Great little workhorse January 5, 2009

I bought this machine a few months ago and waited a bit to write a review so I could really test it out. I have a partially carpeted condo and a fully carpeted small office outside of my home. I use the machine in both places. It's easy to use and cleans really well. I don't even bother to purchase the recommended cleaning solutions because I am allergic to many cleaning chemicals. We do an initial soapy run with a "green" carpet cleaning solution and then follow up with several hot water runs. I can't say how this performs on moderately clean carpets yet because unfortunately I have inherited dirtier than average carpets in both spaces that I haven't been able to replace yet. Until then, the Hoover is helping me make the situation bearable.
As others have commented, the water holding tank is small and must be refilled frequently but that's okay with me because it's less weight to push around. That is my only "sort of" complain. Otherwise, I absolutely love this machine and hope it lasts for many years (only been 6 months so far but not a problem yet).

As soon as we received this carpet cleaner we used it. We simply love it, especially my husband. It is so easy to operate and it did a tremendous job!! We are so happy we purchased it and our rugs look so beautiful!!!! Now we can clean our rugs whenever we want to, instead of making a costly appointment to have them done. Also, the rugs dry pretty quickly so you can have your home up and running in no time.

If you like to keep your house cleaned the way I do, then this is a great product! I bought this about 2 years ago and use it once every 2 months. This has saved me from having to get my carpet professionally cleaned. We have had spills, mud tracked in, and doggy accidents and my carpet still looks great! This is not the same as the professionals though! You have to scrubb the carpet if there is a heavy stain and then use carpet cleaner. There is a plastice piece that broke from normal wear and tear. The problem is that this piece is what keeps the water in the container. I have since fixed it and my parents have one and that never happened to them. Must of just been something that was a flaw from the factory. Overall, great for normal usage, not for professional cleaning!

The Hoover TurboPower 5200 is a great carpet steam cleaner. I bought it to clean the carpets in my new condo, and I clean them about every 6 months. I have now had it for about 2 years and have not had any problems with it. I am always amazed at the amount of dirt that gets removed. It's very easy to use, and the rotating brushes are excellent. It also has a trigger to release more cleaning solution on high traffic areas.
I have used the power hand tool once on my sofa and it seemed to work well, but hooking it up was not the easiest thing to do, you have to turn off the machine and attach it manually. Some of the more expensive machines allow you to just flip a switch to use the hand tool. Additionally, some of the more expensive machines hold the detergent in a separate compartment. In the 5200 the detergent gets mixed in with the hot water. The inconvenience being that when you do a rinse you have to dump out the solution and then put in plain water. On the machines where the detergent is added by the machine, you can do a rinse at anytime. Other than that I have no complaints about the cleaner; it doesn't leak, it easy to operate and clean out, and the carpets dry quickly.
All in all... A quality Hoover machine that does not disappoint.

Got this for my daughter and son-in-law, three kids and an at home DAY CARE. Her carpets have never looked better, it even lifted the spots out. She is so happy to have something she can use so easy twice a year! The steam really seems to make it better.
