I own an Oreck XL21, which I bought in the local Oreck store. I was sucked in (pardon the pun) by the advertisements and what looked like a pretty impressive guarantee (21 years with free maintenance). The model in the store worked perfectly on the little styrofoam beads they sprinkle on the floor for demonstration.
But my carpets are not covered with little styrofoam beads. They're covered with dog hair. Said dog hair immediately clogged by brand-new vacumm cleaner. When I brought the cleaner in for a free maintenance check, I was scolded by the salesman for not cleaning my vacuum cleaner's rollers regularly. (I bought this machine because I need something else to clean?? Or someone else to scold me?) On another occasion I was told that my warranty is void if I do not bring the damn thing in every year like clockwork for maintenance.
The machine simply doesn't work. The few things it sucks up without clogging are simply redeposited elsewhere in my home when I vacuum somewhere else. I am absolutely chagrined that I spent so much money on a vacuum cleaner that simply doesn't work. Be careful. This vacuum cleaner is among the most expensive out there, and it's not worth it.
