Product Description
14pc Stainless Block Set

Amazon.com Review
Any person that has ever tried to slice the golden crust of a baguette with a paring knife, or to peel an apple with a chef's knife, knows the importance of stocking a wide variety of cutlery in the kitchen. A single recipe may require four or five different knives to cut, dice, and slice with efficiency and ease. To cover this wide gamut, Ginsu offers a new comprehensive cutlery set. From the International Traditions cutlery line, the 14-piece set comes equipped with a 3-1/2-inch paring knife, 4-1/2-inch utility knife, 5-inch boning knife, 8-inch slicer, 8-inch chef's knife, 8-inch bread knife, six 4-1/2-inch steak knives, kitchen shears, and knife block. With this wide variety of blades, the set makes a wonderful housewarming gift for a young family establishing their first household.

The blade of each knife was forged from Japanese 420 series stainless steel with full tang for increased balance and permanence. The hygienic stainless-steel construction resists rusting, staining, and corrosion. The craftsmen at Ginsu employ a specialized Symmetric Edge technology, notching matching serrations on both sides of the blade for enhanced precision and smoothness for left- and right- handed users alike. The balanced two-dimensional serration eliminates the need for sharpening these knifes. Stainless-steel handles are curved to provide an ergonomically-friendly hold for chefs. The knife block features sturdy hardwood construction to protect knives and permit quick access while cooking. For cleaning convenience, the knives are dishwasher- safe. Ginsu covers the set with a limited lifetime warranty. The knife block measures 8-1/2 by 6 by inches. The set weighs 9 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

5 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!!!   January 6, 2009
mom of twins (Colorado)
Great knifes at a great price -- I wish I would of bought these sooner. Funny thing is, we just received a Henckels knife set and these Ginsu's are SO much better. The knifes have weight to them, which I like. And, the knife block is sturdy and looks nice. All around, these knifes are fabulous!

5 out of 5 stars A great gift for the Holidays   January 6, 2009
Douglas L. Cunningham (Des Moines Iowa)
I had not previously purchased an item online before and was skeptical about what I would get. The process was easy and the Ginsu knives were more than I expected. They are just as sharp as the 1980's TV commercials, have attractive handles, a comfortable weight and an attractive storage block. I would definitely purchase them again if I needed a nice gift to give to someone.

3 out of 5 stars Not full tang, but decent knives   January 2, 2009
Kevin Dorff (New York, NY USA)
Well, you get what you pay for. These are inexpensive knives but they seem to work relatively well. The metal is somewhat thick, but they are sharp. Some of the larger knives have oddly large handles making them less comfortable to use. The knife block has a huge "GINSU" metal logo on it, which is something less than attractive, at least to me.

These are NOT full tang knives, but for the money I guess I shouldn't have expected them to be. With moderate force on the knife the blade broke out. Ginsu is replacing the knife, but now I feel I need to be more careful with it, which makes me sad.

I only hand wash these and expect to own them for a while, but I guess with what I paid for them if they only last a year or three it won't be a huge loss.
