Amazon.com Review A wok's curved shape lets a relatively small amount of cooking oil circulate back down in to the well of the pan, where it is scooped and stirred back onto whatever's cooking. This makes it useful for healthy cooking. And the high temperatures of stir-frying bring out accordingly rich flavors. This 6-liter electric model is a solid, all-around useful pan to have in any kitchen. The nonstick cooking surface means you need even less oil, and cleaning it is very easy. Use wooden or heat-resistant plastic utensils while cooking; metal implements will scratch the nonstick coating. The instruction booklet comes with a few Chinese recipes, but this wok is more universal than that. Many things that can be sauteed or pan-fried can be done in a wok; even quick soups can be made from start to finish in it. (If you do make something with a lot of sauce or broth, ladle it out rather than trying to tip the pan and pour; remember--even the outer side of the cooking surface gets extremely hot during cooking.) To clean, first make sure the wok cooking surface is completely cooled, both for your safety and for the safety of your sponge. Do not fill a hot wok with cold water. The cooking surface and base separate, and they are dishwasher-safe (the heating element is completely sealed once the temperature probe is removed). Fully assembled, the electric wok measures 14-1/2 inches across by 9 inches high. Rival provides a limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship under normal use conditions. --Garland Withers

Electric Wok April 10, 2007 A. Shaheen (Elkview,WV) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Since I no longer have a gas stove, I purchased the Rival electric wok. The temperature is consistent, the bowl of the wok is large so plenty of veggies etc. can be stir fried.I'm very pleased with my purchase of the Rival wok.
Non-Stick Coating Coming Off April 22, 2006 Bae JangMi (Michigan) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this wok about a year and a half ago and used it a couple times. Recently, I started using it a few times a week. The non-stick coating is chipping away and bubbling up off the surface. I believe I have used it according to the directions and I NEVER use metal utensils. I don't remember ever seeing a non-stick coating bubble on the surface; it's like tiny blisters. I am going to buy another brand to replace it. Beware.
Works Great!! August 24, 2005 L. J. Choike (Utica ,Michigan) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I find that this wok is easy to use and clean. I like preparing meals with it very much. Food tastes great and cooks fast on this wok as controling the heat is accurate and it is maintained evenly with the temperature control probe. It is worth the price.
Great college cookware August 5, 2005 Byron W. Campen (Dallas, TX) This is definitely the best value I've seen. My only real complaint is that it uses an old-fashioned thermostat to keep the temperature steady, meaning that it cycles between on (sear) and off. While this is good enough for simple stuff, it is still too much fluctuation to keep a steady simmer going. The only thing is, I don't know whether there are any woks out there that are better in this regard. It could also use a large handle, although it would probably still be unwieldy with one hand.
I was impressed by this item... March 28, 2005 F. Chang (Everywhere) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this wok for myself. At first, I didn't think it'll work too well. But after I gave it a try, all I can say is I was impressed by this wok!!! The high temperature really heat up FAST and allow me to cook anything I want. I have been cooking fry chicken with this wok and the result comes out great! No need to go to KFC anymore... =P Also, the temperature control allows me to keep the temperature at the exact degrees that I want during cooking. Oh, it's safe, too.
