Horrendous customer service with an attitude July 8, 2007 Mike from Charlotte (Charlotte, NC United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
SUMMARY: If you're paying extra for the Cuisinart name, you're getting ripped off. 1. Cuisinart "customer service" is a sad joke. This was the worst "customer service" experience I've ever endured buying kitchen products. (More on that below.) 2. The fit and finish is below par. The lid arrived blemished, which is why I called the company. When I pay full price for an item, I expect it to be unblemished. The rubber feet kept falling off. The heating was uneven. 3. Cuisinart was bought a long time ago by Conair, the same company that made its fortune selling cheap blow dryers. This wok is a Cuisinart in name only, produced in a foreign factory that likely churns them out for a number of companies. MORE ON BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE: Emails submitted through the Website were never answered. The only time you can get through on the phone is early morning, and you get the same person that sells parts and accessories. They have no incentive to help you, and every incentive to hang up on you so they can sell more parts, which is what happened to me. I was told either I had to clean the stain on the lid with toxic chemicals at my own expense or return the whole unit. I told them that was unacceptable, but before I could suggest another remedy (send me an unblemished lid) or ask about the uneven heating, the person hung up on me. I called back, hoping to get another customer service rep, but got the same one. I asked her to switch me to ANYONE else, and she refused and hung on me. The next time, I tried calling the number at which you BUY accessories, and got the SAME RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP. This time, she started playing games with me. She interrupted every sentence, asking me why I kept hanging up ON HER, which I hadn't of course, until that moment. :) I tried calling back that afternoon from a different phone number, and after repeated attempts, got one person to answer. BUT ... once she figured out I wasn't buying anything, she put me on "hold" even before I could start explaining my problem, and disconnected the line. I don't think anything gets in the way of these people making sales. I sent an email to the company, and never heard back them. I'm not a nut, so I returned the wok and gave up on trying to reach anyone at Conair. When packing it back up, the feet started falling off the unit, even though I was trying to be as careful as possible because I didn't want to get charged even a penny for this item at this point. I decided I will never buy any products branded with the Conair, Cuisinart, Waring, Interplak, Jheri Redding, Rusk, Scuenci, etc., names. All Conair had to do was treat me like a valued customer, and I wouldn't be so upset. I understand you can get a bad apple on any help line, but I tried hard to get through to someone else and couldn't do it. AMAZON WAS GREAT: To clarify: I returned the product with no fuss and received a full refund.
Best Electric Wok on the Market May 9, 2007 S. Westervelt (Colorado Springs, CO USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I can't imagine anything that would make this a better product. It's 7+ quart capacity is wonderful. The deepness of the wok is great. The fact that the wok detaches from the base for cleaning is fantastic. It heats up quickly and evenly and has a higher temperture setting than most woks. I look forward to many years of use with this wok.
Works great! April 28, 2007 A. Fisher 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read the other reviews here before purchase. I agree this product works great. It seems very well made. One reviewer mentioned a discoloration of the stainless lid when she took the label off of the lid because she doesn't like advertizing staring her in the face. We didn't have a problem with that as the label says to remove before use. Cuis discontinued this item. If you're considering one you had better hurry. Most people are out of them already. Amazon did not have one, but had a link to an individual who sold new ones. We purchased one from her and were happy with the prompness and packaging.
Quality product March 24, 2007 William A. Lowe (Pennsylvania) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Attractive kitchen appliance that looks good if left on the counter top. Solid, but not too heavy, the stainless steel construction makes it easy to clean and the detachable base make cleaning the cooking surface a breeze. Have not tried all cooking temperatures yet but the settings seem more than adequate and the few meals we cooked were delicious. Would have given this product five stars except for the fact that the large Cuisinart sticker on the stainless steel cover left a dull finish under the newly exposed area after I removed it. Of course others may choose to leave it on and avoid this, I just don't like advertising on products I buy. Too soon to comment on reliability but do not anticipate any problem given the reputation of Cuisinart and the apparent quality construction of this applicance.
