Amazon.com Review Consisting of a plastic container and a stainless-steel, fine-mesh strainer, this simple unit converts 3 cups of yogurt into 1 cup of thick, creamy yogurt cheese in about 24 hours of refrigeration. (Thickening continues for 24 hours, though a thinner yogurt cheese results in as little as 2 hours.) The yogurt cheese then becomes a healthful, calcium-rich, low-fat alternative to cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, and even whipping cream. It can be used as a spread, in salad dressings, to top baked potatoes, mixed with fruit, and to make cheesecake. The unit works by allowing the whey (liquid) in yogurt to drain away, leaving the curds behind. The container is dishwasher-safe and seals to prevent odor transfer while it's in the refrigerator. Simple instructions and recipes for using yogurt cheese are included. --Fred Brack

very nice product August 17, 2008 Felidae (USA) not much to say about this except that it makes making yogurt cheese a snap. It is sized to hold the contents of one of those bigger containers of yogurt. Place the screened portion in the container, pour the yogurt in, close the container, put it in your refrigerator overnight.. and you have yogurt cheese the next morning. The longer you strain it, the more firm the yogurt cheese. mix cocoa and a little vanilla with this yogurt cheese, add sweetener of your choice (I use stevia), and you have a delicious chocolate mousse! :) about the only thing I will say is that you have to be careful cleaning the screen, not to poke any holes in it. I have not tried the funnel makers (tried the cheesecloth method once, and it was a bit of a pain in the patoot), so I cannot compare this method to the funnel method. if you don't know what yogurt cheese is, and just want to try some to see if you like it before purchasing something like this, then try some greek yogurt. Fage is a good brand. I think it is a bit expensive, but I got it as part of a 4 for 3 promotion: http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=108183011 - great way to save some money.
Excellent product July 5, 2008 M. M. Sherman (Cincinnati, OH) I love Greek-style yogurt and have been paying a premium price for it at the grocery store. However, since I bought this yogurt maker, I've been able to make my own for much less than what I was paying. The yogurt tastes wonderful and it's quick and easy. Depending on how thick you want it, you usually have to empty out the whey once due to the shallowness of the bottom, but it's a quick 5-second job. I would highly recommend this product if you like the thick, custardy type of yogurt.
yogurt cheese maker June 9, 2008 A. V. Prescott (Bath, MAine) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Okay. Works as described. Container is not large enough to hold 32 oz size of yogurt, which would be nice.
easy to use May 25, 2008 MOM OF 3 (NC USA) I wanted thick home made yogurt without having to add gelatin, so I had to put cheese cloth in a sieve before I found the Cuisipro yogurt cheese maker. This product definitely is easier and less messy to use. Very easy to use to make and store laban (thick yogurt). Wish the container was slightly deeper than the current size so that itwould not have to emptied out every so often.
cheese maker May 19, 2008 Gary Jeurink (Grand Island, NE) simple and works well. Wish there were more recipe type of information to go with it. Never will buy cream cheese again.
