Product Description 6 slice capacity. Convention baking function circulates heated air around food for a faster, more even cooking result. 2 sets of 3 quartz heating elements (1 set above and 1 set below) heat food 30% faster and allow ultra precise temperature control. Pate

Dangerous and Big Product September 7, 2008 A. Hall This "toaster" is giant and it won't turn off. These two features combined created a scary situation in my home...twice...with the first one I rec'd, and the replacement a few weeks later. I don't know what's up with this machine but for both units, on the first round of toast, steam poured out of the top vent, the timer counted down to zero, the beep sounded, and the heating elements stayed ON. No button pushing would turn it off, only unplugging the unit would turn it off. Just say Whoa.
Poor engineering September 6, 2008 M. Coppedge (North Carolina) I purchased the Krups Toaster/Oven FBC-2 from Kitchen Kapers, through Amazon.com. UPS delivered the unit in good condition. I was pleased with the design of the unit, and it worked well for four days. Then it failed in the manner reported by some other purchasers on the Amazon.com website. I could not turn off the unit without removing the plug from the power outlet. Then it simply would not power up. I contacted Kitchen Kapers by email to report the problem. They responded on the first work day after my report. I was told that UPS would pick up the defective unit and my request for a refund would be honored. UPS picked up the item the following day and Amazon.com refunded my payment as soon as the unit arrived at Kitchen Kapers, which was three days later. Needless to say, I was disappointed in the Krups toaster oven. It is obviously poorly engineered. This is not a new problem with this unit, so it is odd that Krups has not dealt with it by now. But I must say that I am more than pleased with Kitchen Kapers. My customer service contact, Jackie Mastin, was superb. She often responded to my emails within 30 minutes with clear and friendly instructions. All companies would profit by adopting the quality of customer service demonstrated by Kitchen Kapers.
When it works, it works well, it just doesn't always work September 5, 2008 Rusty Bolt (Florida) First, I must say that me and toasters and or toaster ovens have a checkered past. We just haven't had a lot of success together. The Krups FBC2 was the one to replace a long line of failures. Now, three years later, I can say it is the best toaster oven we have ever owned. But we now need to replace it. First, the positives are great and accurate controls and the quartz tubes for cooking. These are bar none the very best elements for a toaster oven. The problem we ran into is the door. About six months ago, it developed this problem where it wouldn't close all the way. I disassembled it and discovered an internal plastic part had broken which was integral to it closing all the way. I also discovered that it could have been designed so it wasn't a problem. Nonetheless, me and my trusty epoxy repaired it. Now, six months later, same problem. With a one year waranty, it just doesn't pay to get it repaired. We are switching to the Cuisinart TOB-195. No quartz elements, but a three year warranty.
Bad News August 31, 2008 Mrs. Helene C. Peslak (PortRichey,FL) If there was a lower ranking, I would pick it! It worked for a week, then would not shut off. Called Krups but they are worthless, I'm still waiting for the return label. I returned to amazon.com. They were prompt and efficient. Don't buy this product or anything from Krups, as this is the second time I've been burnt by them(coffee pot).
Fast and reliable August 12, 2008 Earl F. Hale This is a great little toaster (and more) oven. We replaced an inexpensive oven that took five minutes for the elements to get hot enough to make toast, and this is our third toaster oven over the last 11 years. We don't use them all that much, a few times each week, but find them handy for toasting bread, bagles, casadillas, and some frozen products like fish sticks. The think I like most about the Krups FBC2 is how fast it makes toast. The elements glow red hot within ten seconds of hitting the start button. And both sides of the bread are toasted evenly. A result of the alternating top and bottom heating design. There are a couple of minor annoyances however; the convection fan is a little noisy and the signals/beeps when the start button is pressed and when the food is done are loud (the better to hear the signal from around the house). But the oven is well made, the shelves slide in and out with ease, the black color won't show smoke stains, and we found the controls straight forward and user friendly.
