Product Description This classic blender blends margaritas and smoothies, mixes soups and sauces, chops fruits and vegetables, grinds coffee beans and nuts, grates cheese and coconut, and crushes ice. The blender has a high speed and a low-speed pulse control, which can be held down for continuous action. Its 40-ounce, ribbed-and-tapered glass container fits onto Oster's distinctive beehive-shaped base, which is clad in lustrous chrome and outfitted with slip-proof rubber feet. Its stainless-steel blade-assembly removes for cleaning, and the container is calibrated in both ounces and liters. Fully assembled, the blender stands 16 inches high on a 7-1/4-inch-diameter base. With the exception of the dishwasher-safe glass container, all parts--including the plastic lid with its plastic 2-ounce measuring insert--require hand washing. The blender carries a one-year warranty against defects, and its instruction booklet includes dozens of recipes.

Beehive Blender July 18, 2008 Ronald Winch (Palm springs) This blender is a substitute for my 30+ year old Oster and which uses the same glass pitcher. My old one finally died, so now I have two picthers to work with, which is very handy because we make shakes and smoothies by day and blended rum or taquila drinks in the evening. This blender seems to have a strong motor and a heavy base which stays in place while working. It's easier to clean than my old one. It crushes ice-maker ice well in my recipes. My only complaint is that it's just one speed (plus a pulse). While, I'd like to have at least two speeds, I'm learning to use the pulse more as a slower speed. I think it's an excellent blender, nice looking with my stainless appliances and I'm happy with my purchase. I recommend it for your next blender. I believe it is well priced for its kind.
Sturdy workhorse of a blender January 21, 2008 S. Sheola (NJ) We've used this blender nearly every day for some 3-4 years and it has held up well. Blends quite well and is good for smoothies, etc. Have not tried using it with ice. At this point, need to replace the gasket ($1.50), but other than that, it just keeps going....
effective but LOUD August 2, 2007 goodgothgirl (Memphis, TN USA) This is a great-looking, great-working, sturdy, but LOUD blender. I am satisfied with its work, and I love its great looks, but I am not exaggerating to say that I wear hearing protection when I use it. (You can get cheap, effective ear plugs at a drug store.) If you're okay with that, you will not be sorry to have this product.
Works like a charm & sounds like a boat motor! Cool! March 20, 2007 C. Molloy (Brooklyn, NY USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I purchased this blender when I finally had enough of my fancy KitchenAid Blender. The KitchenAid could not even blend fruit into a shake, and forget about crushing ice, it just wasn't happening. I did a little Internet detective work, and decided upon the Oster 4093-8 with a 500-Watt motor (Note: The Oster 4093-800 has a weaker 375-Watt motor, the 4093-8 and the 4093-800 are NOT the same model). The Oster is fantastic, making quick work over anything & everything I've thrown at it. It's loud enough to wake the dead, but that's a small price to pay for a tool that actually works. Two thumbs way up!
