It's easy to miscalculate the correct sharpening angle when using a steel. For those who lack confidence in their honing skills, this electric knife sharpener should put their mind at ease. A sharpening channel on this appliance holds blades at the correct angle. Users simply draw knife blades through the groove several times at a consistent speed (with the power switch engaged) to sharpen them. Blades initially pass through coarse grindstones on either side, which actually shave metal from the blade; because blades are guided through the channel, they are always properly aligned so there is never a worry about creating burrs. Next, a pair of fine stones finish blades for a smooth edge. The replaceable grindstone cartridge easily disengages for washing out any stray metal shavings under a running faucet. The cartridge must be thoroughly dried before replacing it for sharpening to be effective. This electric knife sharpener also has rubber feet to keep it from skidding during sharpening, and a see-through cover to protect the machinery during storage. A compact shape and a hidden compartment for the cord make this an easy electric appliance to store when not in use. The problem with this one is that you have to go through the rough and the fine stone at the same time, there is no separation, but the end result is good for me (for now, until they come with a better one)
So for me it is O.K. but definitely not for pros.
