The coffee maker is great, though the metallic taste has made me drink less coffee. We've had ours for nearly three years, use it a lot, and it still adds a strong metallic smell and taste to the coffee. Unless there's a solution to this, I won't buy a similar again.

I am writing this just to say that two stars is too low. We have had this product for a year, and it is fine. I am not overly thrilled, but I am satisfied. I also like the metal caraffe because I have a small child. I would recommend this for someone who wants a less breakable caraffe and insists on a cone filter. If I had it to do over, I would buy a Hamilton Beach 47224 12-Cup BrewStation with Water Filter, Black, even though ours broke after 18 months.

Coffee maker works well but the coffee tastes very metallic. Has anyone else noticed this with this unit or is it a problem with any metal-lined thermos types? This is our first experience with a metal thermos. We've always used glass carafes before this.
