NOT DISHWASHER SAFE November 27, 2008 C. Fannin (central ohio) this tea maker does make good tea but I put my pots in the dishwasher and they warped, now I have a tea maker and no other pot will fit it. I miss my old one.
Leaks everywhere! June 10, 2008 A. M. Jewell I had an iced tea maker years ago, but never replaced it until recently. The first one I had was great and we actually wore it out. So wehn I bought this one, I assumed it would be about the same. It worked fine until the third time I used it. I came into the kitchen to find tea EVERYWHERE! I thought that maybe I had not lined it up properly. Not true. I am extra cautious to line it up exactly as it should be and still I have had 2 more times that the tea was everywhere. I can no longer use this while unattended. Sometimes it will work fine, other times it will work fine until the last half of the cycle and even other times it will be completely done just emptying the basket and it will begin to spill. I am glad that I did not pay a great deal for this. I will definitely be looking for another model!
Not Pitcher perfect February 6, 2008 NeedaCorona My son bought this model for me as a birthday present to replace the older one that I had used for years. He got it from Walmart for less than $20.00 and it came with two pitchers, which is nice when you always want to have iced tea ready. I would never go with one less than 3 quarts. It makes excellent iced tea. I use 3 family size Luzianne tea bags and it comes out perfect. I add the sugar as soon as it's finished brewing. I always get comments on how good my iced tea is. The only problem is, sadly, the pitchers. Over time the hot dripping tea will open up the seam and it will leak all over the counter. I have never put them in the dishwasher so that's not the problem. I had both of mine duct taped..looked unsightly..but worked for a while when gluing didn't work. I emailed Mr. Coffee with this complaint about the pitchers and they sent me two for free. Thank you Mr. Coffee. Unfortunately both of them are now starting to leak. Took a little over a year of constant use...gotta have my iced tea..lol. I don't think Mr. Coffee will send me another two for free again but I did find the replacement pitchers on their web site for 8.98 plus shipping. But then I wonder if Walmart is still selling the whole thing for less than 20.00. It just seems like a waste to buy the whole unit again when there is nothing wrong with the original one...Mr. Coffee needs to redesign the pitchers. I guess I'll be buying two new pitchers until I find a better made 3 qt maker. In the meantime...where's my duct tape.
Love it! Love it! July 30, 2007 January Flower (Midwest, USA) I have the TP39P, but this one looks just the same. I bought mine at Walmart. This iced tea maker is a breeze to use and makes one, two or three quarts depending on your wishes. I use three-one quart bags and then put sugar and sliced lemons on top of the ice and it's just like sun made! Delicious!! When my mom was here she used it twice a day and it just kept making great tea over and over again. I'm only giving it four stars because of the pitcher. You CANNOT wash it in the dishwasher or use even a slightly abrasive sponge on it. This becomes a problem because of the stains that tea leaves. So you either bleach or let them stay. Mine's all scratched up, but still works fine.
worst ever June 2, 2007 Nina Phillips (georgia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the worst tea pitcher in the world. The tea maker is ok. I got it a year ago and have replaced the pitcher 11 times at 10.99 ea online plus shipping. Its just not worth it. I will get a diferent one this time. It cracks over and over. Its horrible. Don't get it. It's not worth it.
