5 out of 5 stars Great little coffee maker   December 2, 2008
Richard R. Rediske (Michigan)
The saying "Less is more" is true about the AeroPress. It makes very good coffee fast, is easy to clean, the filters are cheap, and the amount of coffee used per cup is low. The coffee is not bitter like with a french press and it is far more efficient that the cold press Toddy. My latte with the AeroPress is as good as Big B and I do not need to leave home to get one. Unlike some of the reviewers, it is very easy to press the water out. I use a cup with a wide base and it is very stable. Since you press the water out, the grounds are dry and easy to remove. Hats off to AeroPress for a great invention.

5 out of 5 stars The only thing it's missing is a cute little storage box   December 1, 2008
G. Leever (Southeast USA)
I really love my Aeropress. Even the first cup I made with it took mere minutes. The clean up really is as easy as people have stated. I bought mine from Amazon. I was disappointed that I'd purchased filters separately. There's no need. The unit comes with a set of around 200 filters. There are also two black pieces that came with the unit and are not shown on Amazon. I figured out that one acts as a stabilizer to place the unit on a coffee cup more securely. The other piece...I'm still not sure of its function. BUT clearly it isn't a crucial piece, because I'm making great coffee without it. :) I would recommend the company think up a cute little box that will store the unit nicely. The shape of the box in which it is sold is too awkward to fit nicely on my shelves or in my cabinets. Just a suggestion. Yes. I recommend the Aeropress. Buy it.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Coffee in less than 5 minutes   November 30, 2008
A. Badger (San Francisco, CA)
I was skeptical going into this. I didn't think that a funny looking device like this could make serious coffee. But I had heard a few people talking about it so I thought I'd try it out.

Glad I did. The coffee is great. Probably the best "brewed" coffee I've ever had. It has all the qualities of a French Press coffee without the sediment (thanks to the filter) and tastes great. Sometimes the plunger can be a little hard to press down fully, but that's usually because the grind of the beans is too fine. A simple adjustment (this device will work best if you have a bean grinder that allows you to adjust the fineness) to the grind and the next batch is great. It makes a single cup or a pot of coffee in no time at all. I highly recommend this product.

5 out of 5 stars Wow! Amazing coffee from simple device!   November 30, 2008

I've bought hundreds of items from Amazon and this is the first product I absolutely HAD to comment on. I'm an admitted coffee snob and I drink a lot of it. I'm a writer and this is my main weakness. I grind and brew my own just fine through my fancy coffee maker as well as my french press but the Aeropress makes a cup as good or better than any coffee I've ever had. Plus the cleanup is SO much easier than the french press. That alone makes it worth the purchase. I cannot rave enough about how much I love this thing. I can't wait to travel with it so I'll never be without great coffee again.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty good coffee maker   November 27, 2008
G. S. Augustas (Garland, Texas)
I was looking for an inexpensive alternative to an espresso maker. I didn't find it, but the Aeropress makes decent coffee. I like my coffee very hot, so I used hotter water than the directions stipulate (just below the boiling point). It made good regular coffee, but only fair espresso. I was not able to produce any "crema" on the coffee. The paper filters filter too well: they remove all sediment even when I use extremely find grind coffee.
The coffee maker is easy to use and eash to clean. My Aeropress arrived with one packet of filters included, so you may want to forgo buying another packet until you are sure you like the coffee maker. The manufacturer claims you can wash the filters and reuse them, but I had better results using a new filter each time.
