Amazon.com Review The Bosch brand's reputation for excellence dates back to 1886, when Robert Bosch founded Robert Bosch GmbH as a precision-tool and engineering workshop in Stuttgart, Germany. Today, Bosch makes a wide variety of tools, kitchen appliances, and more. The company's MEK 7000 built-in 700-watt stand mixer is an amazing space saver that helps out so much when cooking, it almost seems as if there's an extra sous chef in the kitchen. The mixer actually fits into a kitchen counter, so you'll need to install it--but the base should fit almost flush with the counter and is shallow enough that you should be able to still use any cupboard it's placed over (you wouldn't be able to use a drawer under it). When the machine is not in use, there is a metal plate that covers the unit snugly. The mixer's strong motor is one of the most powerful you'll find among mixers of the same size, and it drives all accessories off a single mounting position. It has four speed settings, plus a momentary pulse function, that install just the right amount of control as you go from fluffing egg whites to making bread. The 6-quart bowl is made of stainless steel, kneads up to 12 pounds of dough, and comes with an antisplash cover. When the bowl is in place, it stands 9 inches above the counter. All the surfaces of this kitchen machine are easy to clean, and it sports convenient cord storage and suction feet that add stability. A handy instruction booklet, beating and stirring whisks, a spatula, and the exclusive stainless-steel Bread Master dough hook are included (other attachments are available separately), and all accessories are dishwasher-safe. This machine rocks! October 28, 2004 J. South (Cary, NC USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I used a Kitchen Aid for 10 years, but had outgrown it (I have four boys who aren't even teenagers yet). I had the option of upgrading from my 5 qt model to a 6 qt model, but after reading and talking to friends, I decided to switch over to the Bosch. I watched eBay for several weeks and ended up paying $230 for it. I installed it myself and it is just wonderful. I did have to give up a drawer, but that is a small price to pay IMHO. With the stainless steel cover over it, I don't even notice it and it gets stuff piled on it just like the rest of the counters. People have come over and not even noticed it. I have since purchased the food processor and blender. I am very pleased with this machine. I envision many years of happy use.
