Product Description
Hamilton Beach resolves the complaints of many customers tired of chopping fruits and vegetables to feed through ordinary home juicer chutes. The Big Mouth Pro Juice Extractor is designed to accept whole fruits - or at least larger pieces - for speedier, easier juicing. When it's more convenient, you're more likely to use it. So don't shy away from the fresh taste and nutrition of freshly extracted juices. With its large chute and powerful motor, juicing at home makes more sense than ever. Juice cup included

4 out of 5 stars Juice extractor   September 6, 2008

This juicer does a very good job and is a good value for the money. I'm pleased with how well it extracts juice from "dry" vegetables like carrots and beets. However, the pulp from softer fruits, like tomatoes, is moister than what I'd like to see, indicating that not all the juice has been extracted from these. Overall, I'm satisfied and would recommend this juicer to others.

4 out of 5 stars juicer   September 3, 2008

I am a first time juicer and this product works well and is easy to clean, especially if you use a grocery bag in the pulp catcher as suggested in the instructions. I think this product is great for first time juicers since it is easy to use and reasonably priced. I would recommend purchasing a juice recipe book as there are not many included with the juicer. Please be aware that you need a good amount of fruit or vegetables to produce a single cup of juice.

5 out of 5 stars Big Mouth Chrome vs. Breville Compact Juice Fountain   September 2, 2008
Michael (Chatsworth, CA United States)
I just recently purchased two juicers: the Bigmouth Chrome and the Breville Compact Juice Fountain. As they are both in the same price/performance category, I thought I'd briefly compare the two for those interested in the differences-as I see it. For the record, both of these juicers are my first go at juicing and was recommended to us by our Nutritionist.
First, both are winners and perform flawlessly the task of extracting juice from a wide variety of vegetables and fruits. Both have strong motors that easily do the job at hand. Both are easy to use and clean. Both are well designed and are easily taken apart and put back together.
In all honesty, the Breville Compact Juice Fountain which costs about 40 dollars more than this Bigmouth Chrome does have a few benefits which make it worth the extra cost if price is not an object. The Breville motor seems to be a touch more powerful and a touch quieter. The Breville's juice container comes with a froth reducer (I, personally, don't mind the froth). The Breville doesn't drip juice from the spout while emptying the juicing container (just a minor annoyance). The Breville can chew up whole carrots without causing the machine to slightly "jump." The Breville has a larger juice container and doesn't fill up nearly as fast. This is not really a big deal as the juice can be transferred to a different container. The Bigmouth does have a larger pulp container that seems like a bottemless pit while the Breville's fills up faster...so it's a draw really. The Breville is easier to clean due to its clean design and lack of grooves and indentations (except, oddly, the stainless steel screen which is finer in the Bigmouth and makes a slightly smoother drink).
All in all, both are amazing bargains for the price each cost. Owning both, I don't think that I would regret having only one or the other. I use the Bigmouth and my wife uses the Breville (it is just that much easier to ensemble for use). While, in my opinion, the Breville's slightly higher cost can be justified by the slight benefits it offers, the Bigmouth Chrome is an awesome machine that cranks out delicious juices no matter what I shove down its throat :-)
I love mine!
Hope that helps,
Michael

4 out of 5 stars Loving it!   August 25, 2008

I was a little concerned about the noise level of the juicer. My stepson has one that sounds like a jet taking off! This one is a little quieter than my Oster blender. Not bad.

The motor unit is nice and heavy. It feels very sturdy. The rubber feet keep it from migrating across the counter top. However, that also means you have to pick it up to move it, and the pulp hopper and the juice glass are not connected so...since I keep it pushed out of my way on the counter until I need it, moving it around takes a little doing. That's a tiny issue, but I thought I'd mention it.

Assembly was very simple. I rarely read directions - and didn't need to this time, either. I think I'm going to wish the juice container was a little bigger. The one that comes with it only holds about 8 oz.

Clean-up is quick and easy. The only little problem I've had is with tiny blueberry seeds getting stuck in the blade. They are so small that even the scrub-brush that's included doesn't get them out easily, although they finally came loose. I agree with an earlier poster that it would be nice to have a brush to clean out the juice spout (which is only about 1/2 wide).

We have mainly juiced fruit so far, but also have juiced carrots. It takes very little effort to push the material through the system. Our 7-year old neighbor girl wanted to make her own juice, and she had no problem pushing through either the apples or the carrots. What a great introduction to healthy juices! She (and a couple of her friends)liked it so much they wanted MORE. I had to tell them to start bringing their own food to make juice (or I'll be going broke), and I'll be happy to let them use the machine.

As a novice juicer, I'm very impressed with this machine!

Became interested in purchasing a juicer after seeing the Jack LaLanne infomercial about juicing; however, after doing some research, I found that his juicer got several discouraging reviews. The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Pro got more favorable reviews, so that is what I ordered.

I've had the juicer almost 2 months now, with no complaints. We use it 2-4 times a week. I do have to cut some things in half first like larger apples, greenpeppers and pears, but this is not an issue. It handles everything I put into it just fine.

The juicer comes with a handy brush for cleaning and also states in the instructions to use a plastic bag in the pulp container for less clean up--what a great idea! I don't have any complaints about clean up, either. Yes, it is best to at least rinse everything right away to avoid caked on muck, but I put my glass of juice in the fridge for the few minutes I clean up so that the juice is nice and cold when I'm finished. I would also highly recommend using the wire mesh sink strainers you can get at your local home improvement store to capture the pulp you rinse off of the components. We have a septic system, and the mesh really prevents a ton of food from washing down the drain and into the septic tank.

I've never been a big fruit & vegetable eater, but with the Big Mouth Pro, I'm getting a lot more of both into my diet--even beets!

All in all, a great product. Give it a try.
