Powerful juicer August 4, 2007 Jean Gray (New Concord, KY) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This product is very efficient, quiet, and effective. It does need cleaning out often during use, but is better and easier to clean than most. Superior prodect.
Great juicer March 6, 2007 the juicemeister (Wellywood, Aotearoa) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I absolutely love my Greenstar juicer. It doesn't take very long to clean at all, no longer than any of the other centrifugal juicer's i've had over the years and it's far better than any of them anyway. What do people expect? Self cleaning juicers, blenders and food processors? In the future, maybe but good health is worth the effort. Also, the soft fruit attachment should take care of any softer produce. Nut butters - I'm not sure as I'm only just about to attempt some but I assume you'll need a little olive oil stirred in afterwards as this is what you use making nut butter in a food processor. It's a well made, solid (hence heavy), and reliable machine; makes lovely juice and sparks interesting discussion with visitors; what more could you want?!
good at some things, not at others January 5, 2007 Forrest Wilson (Del Mar, CA United States) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
This was my first juicer, so I have no basis for comparison except what the manufacturer claims. You cannot juice wheatgrass with this, that is a blatant lie. you will get so much more foam than juice you will wish that you had driven to a juice bar and paid for them to do it, plus now you have to clean it again. It juices things like carrots, jicama, green leaves and celery very well. The tougher and harder the veggie, the better this thing is. It absolutely cannot juice things like citrus, tomatoes, and even most apples will cause it to clog up quickly. It is so so at juicing cucumber. It is recommended that if you need to juice apples or cukes, switch off with a piece of carrot to push it all through. I tried making almond butter several times, and it comes out looking like bread crumbs. I ran it through a bunch of times, and eventually it resembled almond "dough", cetrainly nothing creamy that could be called "almond butter" by any definition. Cleaning it seems like a chore. I believe there are six pieces you can simply rinse off, and then there is the screen which you must scrub with the included brush. This is a total pain, and if you need to replace the brush or any other parts, they are very pricey. Oh and this machine weighs like 30 pounds! My intent is not to bring anyone down with a lot of negativity, it's just that this was my experience and the reviews I have read didn't really paint the whole picture.
Reliable heavy duty machine for the serious juicer June 6, 2006 The Lifelong Learner (Santa Monica) 14 out of 16 found this review helpful
I've been using this juicer for 10 months, about 4 times a week. I love it. It's quiet. You can carry on a normal conversation while the machine is running. Juices slowly at a cool temperature. Makes minimal foam. Squeezes the pulp dry. You don't waste so much as with the non-gear driven kind. You don't need another machine to do different stuff. E.g., it handles fresh ginger as easily as carrots. Yes, it has several parts to disassemble to clean, but it's very easy to do - 10-15 min - and re-assembly is idiot-proof. I'm very happy with the Green Star.
Best Juicer on the Market for the Avid Juice Drinker! May 30, 2006 RawSandi (So Cal) 9 out of 12 found this review helpful
I bought the Green Star after using cheaper centifugal juicers and doing a lot of research. I was beginning to grow my own wheatgrass, so I had to get a juicer that could handle it. I love how quickly and easily this machine juices everything, while maintaining low temperatures. At first I thought it was a pain to clean, but after a couple of times, it didn't seem tedious or difficult at all. Just rinse the parts and go! I highly recommend this if you're planning to be a heavy juice drinker. If you're just starting out, try a less expensive machine to be sure it's not just a fad, or you will have wasted a lot of money. But if you're sure you'll be juicing daily, this is the machine for you!
