Would not recommend February 24, 2007 MyPenName (Pennsylvania) I purchased this as an upgrade from a 2 slice toaster. I looked at all available models within a certain price range. Not many had good reviews...neither will this one. The toast does not pop up the whole way. It does not even pop up flush to the top of the slot openings. You have to stick your fingers down in the slots and pinch onto the bread to get it out. And yes, you will burn your fingers as the device is obviously hot. The bread does not toast uniformly. The top half of the bread gets burnt and the bottom half is just barely toasted. I have tried playing with the settings to get this to even out more, to no avail. I would not recommend this toaster to anyone. So far I have only used it with bread, for making toast. Unless you buy some sort of extra tall bread, plan on burning your fingers to get your toast out of this toaster. I use typical everyday bread brands...Sunbeam, store brands, etc. The slots on this toaster are just way too deep. The uneven toasting is quite annoying as well. There is just no way to get a uniformly toasted piece of bread. No matter what, the top half is burnt and the bottom is barely done. I guess to get a decent 4 slice toaster, you might just have to spend the big bucks. I am looking for a new one already and have only had this one about a month so far. I would have just sent it back to Amazon, but, I hate to go through all the hassle of returning it. I'll just take it as a loss of $20 and keep it as a spare. I hope this review helps someone. I don't want anyone else to experience the disappointment that I did.
