Item being reviewed November 30, 2008 DadsCookin I purchase my first EuroPro convection oven, nearly identical to this one in 2004 at a clearance store. It was an impulse buy. I found I used it almost exclusively for cooking dinners for me and my son, forsaking the conventional range oven and the outdoor Webber gas grill. After four years of use the switches started to go bad, so I bought a replacement Black and Decker Convection. Hated it, took it back. Went online to get this one and I am very pleased with it, as I was with the first. The 60 minute timer was a welcome improvement over the old 15 minute one... otherwise it is the same pleasing and useful product.
This should not be called a Toaster Oven November 13, 2008 busy girl (Boston, MA) I think the name "Toaster" oven is a little mis-leading for this product. A couple of reviewers have been critical of those who have complained that this "toaster" oven does not toast well. But if you are going to make a product and call it a "toaster" oven, then it should indeed toast. Otherwise, just call it a convection oven. This oven does a pretty good job on small items as an alternative to using your regular oven. But if you are looking for a multi-purpose appliance to use for both baking and toasting, keep looking.
Broke after a year of use--not worth the money!! October 24, 2008 Dianne Lee (Austin, TX USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We had (and still have) an under-the-counter Black and Decker. It has truly stood the test of time. We bought the Euro-Pro Convection b/c you can fit a small pizza and other larger items that would not fit in our B&D. First the timer stopped working--it would keep running and not shut off. It's a good thing I am always nearby when I use it. Now, the heating element doesn't come on at all. It may lok like a nice unit, but it is not good quality in my opinion if it is not built to last more than a year (of course, just after the manufacturer's warranty has expired). I spoke with customer service today and they said it would need to be mailed to them and the repair would be $27. Between the shipping cost and the repair, heck, I'll just by another toaster oven--and make sure it's not a Euro-Pro. Too bad they stopped making the under-the-counter models. We'll likely buy another Black and Decker, just a larger one. I didn't know that Euro-Pro is the same company that makes the Shark. I bought one of those steam mops and it is very flimsy. It feels like the handle is about to snap.
Broke After Several Uses September 13, 2008 B. Ferrell (Davenport, IA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I received this toaster oven as a gift less than six months ago. I've used it only a handful of times. As of a few days ago, the door refuses to close completely. I now have a one-inch gap to let all the heat out into the kitchen when I use it. Thanks, Euro-Pro: now I know never to buy your products if I have a choice.
Euro-Pro? Try Euro Trash August 19, 2008 L-Mo (Pearland, TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My husband's first remark from day one was, "it looks more like Euro trash than Euro Pro, take it back and get one that will last." I convinced him we should keep it b/c my brother had just bought the same one and loved it. At first we were delighted that the convection feature did speed up cooking time and the price seemed right. Then, little by little the cooking time started getting longer and longer. The honeymoon was over... We thought it was because the door didn't shut properly, it was just kind of ajar and would only close completely if you held it in place. After a year the top heating element went out completely. No biggie, we use it for frozen pizza, egg rolls, and since the convection was still circulating the heat, it would still cook alright, albeit significantly slower than before. Now after 2 years of use (maybe 3 times/week) the bottom heating element is also going out just like the top one did. It will turn on if the temp is turned all the way up to 450 & using the broil or toast setting but will not come on at all if its set to bake. Occasionally it needs a little shake to get it working again. Some other things worth noting, the turn knobs for time and temp are, IMHO, not accurate and never were. Also, the top gets dangerously hot, much more so than other toaster ovens we've used. In fact, when the top heating element used to work, we could put pots on top to keep warm if the toaster oven was turned on. It didn't stand up to moderate use and after just 2 years I'm shopping for a new one. My advice: this is not well made (and its clear if you could see it in person.) Spend $30 more and get one that will last a little longer.
