Expensive and a little disappointing April 12, 2008 lilguysmom (Baltimore, MD USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We were looking for a wide-slot 4-slice toaster to replace our older model that wasn't designed to toast bagels and such. After doing a lot of research online and reading reviews, we settled on this model. It was more money than I'd ever want to spend on a toaster, but since we'd received a gift card and there was a manufacturer's rebate, we decided to go ahead and get it. Well, the toaster is nice but it's been a bit disappointing. First, only one of the sides has the "bagel" switch, so if you're toasting more than one bagel, you can only do them one at a time. Second, with the "bagel" switch selected, only one side of the warming rack heats up. So, each time you put in a bagel, you have to remember which way to face the side you want toasted. Even with the "bagel" switch selected, the bagel doesn't toast evenly. The "pop up" switch is nice, so you don't have to dig out your toast/bagel/etc. from the inside of the toaster and there are several toasting selections so just about anything can be toasted how you want (although it takes trial and error to see which temperature setting is appropriate for various items) but overall it's a very pricey toaster that really isn't worth the money.
Toaster March 22, 2008 LuVerne Walter (North Carolina/Port Stanley, Ontario) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I thought I had done adequate study before buying what one would think should not be so difficult a purchase. First day- the toast traveled about the kitchen before landing on the floor--- awful design!! does not toast even and just plain sucks.
uneven toasting, too-small slots March 15, 2008 CS (Acton, MA, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Caveat: Read this review with the possibility in mind that the one I received was defective. That seems likely since the other reviews are all very favorable. However, ... Firstly, this toasts very unevenly, making it useless as a toaster. I mean unacceptably uneven: nearly burnt on one side, white on the other. Also a problem is that the slots are really too small. Anything other than a smallish slice will have trouble (we had trouble with an Arnold's brand bread, nothing outlandish). I would recommend against it, since either the quality is uneven or the toaster is.
Almost Perfect February 22, 2008 R. Wagoner I purchased this toaster to replace my previous T-fal Avante that finally gave up after many years of service. The only thing I don't like about this particular model is it didn't have the frozen setting. I can live without that but my last T-fal spoiled me. It comes as avertised though and everything it should do works as expected if not better.
Great Toaster! T-Fal Avante Deluxe gets an A++++! January 3, 2008 Tru_Sweetheart (Oklahoma City, OK USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am a fan of the T-Fal brand -- I own a set of pots and pans that I can not do without. With such a positive experience, I decided to buy a T-Fal toaster after my brand new, but really cheap, 4-slice toaster caused problems. (The settings were inconsistent, I could only stop a cycle with great physical effort, and whenever I did, it would literally jettison the toast out of the toaster!) I have owned the T-Fal Avante 4-slice toaster in white for about 2 weeks now. I have NO COMPLAINTS... My family is rather heavy on the toasting -- bread, bagels, toaster strudels and pastries, etc. And without a doubt this is the best toaster I have ever had. I really like the sloping front, which makes it easy to keep tabs on the toasting process. And really nice part is the stop buttons on both sides, which allow you to stop your toast whenever you want. This toaster is an exercise in convenience and is exceptionally user-friendly!! Bravo, T-Fal!
