Product Description The Proctor-Silex 4quart slow cooker is a perfect appliance for cooking and serving appetizers like meatballs and melted cheeses. The three temperature settings allow for you to cook your meal and then keep it warm while it is served. This slow cooker is also excellent for sauces, chilis and stews.
Amazon.com Review Round, pure white, and cleanly devoid of decoration, this four-quart slow cooker appeals to those who like unfussy kitchen appliances. Wraparound heat ensures that meats and stews left all day to cook won't overheat in some spots and undercook in others. The four-setting dial rotates from the off position to a keep-warm function for serving, and low and high temperatures for cooking. With this versatility, chocolate fondue and cheese dips can be cooked and then kept at just the right temperature for nibbling right out of the pot. The cooker's ceramic crock, with interior dimensions of 6 by 7-1/4 inches, features flared handles which allow easy removal for table-top serving or refrigerator storage. The glass lid sheds light on the cooking process, and is domed to drip moisture back into the crock. Both the crock and lid are dishwasher-safe. From the bottom of its four feet to the top of the lid knob, the slow cooker measures 11 inches; its diameter measures 10 inches, excluding the two plastic sure-grip handles. Recipes for Hawaiian Chicken, Texas Chili Soup, Sweet and Pungent Meat Balls, and more are included in the user guide. --Ann Bieri

Slow cooker September 13, 2007 Peggy Struwe (Nebraska) I have used the rival crock pots for years. The older ones are hard to clean because the pot doesn't come out. I like this one because the pot comes out to wash. It cooks hotter than the other slow cookers I have used, so have had to adjust the time. I like meat cooked in it on high and have it on an appliance timer so food is done when I get home from work. I use this almost daily during the winter on work days. Don't use it as much during summer because we grill most days. I would buy this again. The only thing I wish were better is a slicker inside surface so it would clean better. I spray the inside with Pam before adding anything and this helps cleanup of the inside crock.
Cooks Too Hot, Everything Comes Out Brown September 8, 2007 C. Besser (Seabrook, TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
No matter what I cook in this slow cooker, it comes out brown, tough, and overcooked. I would NOT recommend this AT ALL. Rival makes a much better line of products, and I CAN recommend those. Avoid this one at all costs. It's not even worth the $26.00 I paid for it.
Purchased in 2003, and it's still going strong.... July 1, 2007 PK (CABOOL, MO USA) I am using this today to make stew. I needed to verify the size to calculate carbs for the recipe and searched through my purchases until I located it... So, thought, as long as I was here I would add my two cents... I received this as a premium with another appliance in November of 2003, even though I had a larger slow cooker, I thought the price was right, and it would make a nice secondary unit! Instead, I find I use it more than the large one. I knocked off one star for the noisy sloppy lid... ;0)) PK
Slow Cooker January 29, 2007 SQPublik (Margate, FL United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I always had slow cookers when the family was big and hungry. Now that we retired to Florida, the need for those humongeous pots wasn't there any longer. But - (you never forget your first love!), suddenly I needed one , or I wanted one again ... I spotted the perfect one on the "Semi Home Made" Tv Cooking Show, and that was IT ! It is pure white, smallish, easy to clean, light to handle, easy to store. The insert is white crockery. On/Off - High/Low - Warm - that's it. Very "retirement fiendly!" I cooked Jamaican, Hispanic, Hawaiian, German - anything one can imagine, in it and wouldn't want to be without it. Very reliable heating element, keeps food hot/warm , esp. when serving successive helpings! Hot Punches, mulled Wine, Sangrias etc, can all be made in this wonderfull little pot. I think, there's even a larger model on the market, but this 4-quart one is big enough for our purposes. Love it !
Great Slow Cooker for the Price November 28, 2005 gattaca (Portland, OR USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just recently received this slow cooker from Amazon. So far we made BBQ pork roast and some turkey chili. It worked just fine. We set it at low for about 7-8hrs. We did not have any scorching with either dish. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to use a slow cooker. The 4-qt size is good for 2-3 people.
