There's no "slow" in this slow cooker. November 29, 2008 J. Gusick Even on low, cooksway too fast. Has holes in the lid and all the steam escapes out and food over cooks and is dried out.
Already need the Ceramic Insert! November 15, 2008 D. Arena (USA) I LOVED this slow cooker until after the 5 or 6th use, the Insert started cracking as soon as I put it on the stove. I am very careful with my appliances and did everything as instructed, so there was absolutely no excuse to why this happened. Now I am looking to purchase the Insert so that I could use it again! Other than the Insert cracking, this was the best cooker that I ever had! (And I have 3 more brands!) I use these Slow Cookers at least twice per week. A great way to feed your family when life gets busy!
Outstanding product - works great! October 7, 2008 C. Whitney After purchasing a cheaper crock pot for my son away at college, then reading the poor reviews, I did quite a bit of research and bought him this one. He brought it home for summer vacation and fortunately for me, left it here for the time being when he returned to school. We have used it several times, for traditional crock pot cooking and for browning meats on the stove first then the slow cooking. It works great for all the uses it is advertised for. It's really nice to be able to brown a roast as it should be, before cooking it slowly for hours. The timer is very handy also. You don't have to worry that your dinner is overcooking if you don't get home in time. The versatility of use and nice design makes this a great crock pot to own and use. I am really glad I picked this one and would not trade it for any other crock pot.
Defective material October 4, 2008 Bill Dee (Boston, MA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Received this crockpot as a gift. Used it three times. Followed all the instructions/directions. On the fourth use, I noticed the stoneware was cracked. Called the company and they said the warranty did not cover it because it was an "old model" manufactured three years earlier, based on some code # on the plug. So, my complaints are poor materials and poor customer service.
like but with reservations September 23, 2008 Sandra O'neill Alves (walnut grove, ca) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Overall I like the crock pot but I agree with other reviewers that the lid is an issue. It feels very fragile and I am scared to death it will break with just a tap. I also am disapointed with the bowl of the pot itself, the bottom middle slopes to the edges and is not flat, so it does not evenly brown. I am finding I am pulling out the frying pan to brown meat and then adding it to the crockpot like I have always done with other crockpots. I don't think I would spend this amount of money for this pot again.
