1 out of 5 stars Where do I return   September 20, 2008

After first use, I am very unhappy with this product....the waffle is still welded on and I cannot get it off. The unit is unusable. Who do I contact...Amazon or Crisinart?

3 out of 5 stars A little messy   August 21, 2008

I looked at various waffle irons and finally decided on the Cuisinart. After it arrived, we made waffle batter and poured it into the iron. It spilled over very quickly and came out the front of the machine where the temperature dial is located--not a good design feature (and hard to clean up). After this I was not happy with my purchase. After waiting a few weeks (we don't eat waffles very frequently) we tried again. This time I didn't pour batter towards the front of the iron and that worked much better. Bottom line, machine makes good waffles but the secret is the amount of batter and not pouring it towards the front of the iron.

3 out of 5 stars Cuisinart Waffle Iron   July 21, 2008

Waffle maker heats quickly and it is not as hard to clean as others have said. I didn't have a lot of run over when putting in the batter.

The biggest problem is that the waffles stick to the "NO STICK" surface. I have tried spraying them with Pam, but that only made the waffles not crispy. At times they stick to both plates and pull apart when opened.

I have only used it twice, so maybe the sticking problem will get better with use.

3 out of 5 stars Update to previous review!   June 15, 2008

I bought this waffle iron for my husband for Father's Day. We used it for the first time this morning. We followed the exact recipe from the instruction booklet. Although it made way too many waffles for our needs, they turned out excellent. The outside was crispy, and the inside was tender and fluffy. Would prefer a recipe with less oil and will start to experiment from here on out.
We do have some gripes, however. The instructions said to pour 2 cups of batter onto the iron. MISTAKE! It made the biggest mess ever. We had batter oozing out all over the maker, the counter, and down the front of the cabinet. By the time we made the final waffle we found that the right amount is about 1 and 1/4 cup of batter. This creates very little oozing.
Cleaning the unit is a total pain in the neck, as other reviewers have stated. The griddle portion itself is indeed non-stick and was no trouble. The clean up of the exterior was the tricky part. We, too, used toothpicks, a (new) toothbrush, and lots of wet cloths to get it clean. There was batter all over the control knob, underneath the unit, and in all the tiny cracks and seams.
I agree with another reviewer in saying, "Cuisinart, you should know better!"
The end result was very tasty waffles. We'll use this iron again for special occasions and brunches, but it's certainly not something we'll do on a weekly basis.
Final analysis: Good product, start with smaller portions of batter and build up to the right amount, be prepared for spills and time spent on cleaning up.
UPDATE: As of 9/21/08, we're very disappointed with this product. After several uses, it no longer keeps the heat. When the ready beep goes off, the waffles are nowhere near done. They must go through at least 2 cycles before they are brown! We will be returning this waffle iron and search for a new one! Downgrade this product to 1 star.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing for a very expensive Cuisinart product!   June 1, 2008
D. Chase
When I found a traditional waffle iron that makes more than one at a time - I had to have it! Paid big big money for it and wish I had bought 2 single waffle irons instead! Jeesh. It's cute, but designed poorly. It overflows onto the control knob and is full of cracks and crevices that don't clean up easily or quickly. Come on Cuisinart - you should know better.

Recommendation - don't waste your money. Try 2 single irons at a fraction of the cost and don't ever plan to join your family when having a waffle breakfast.
