Product Description From the Krups line of innovative products comes the Waffle Chef, a four-at-a-time waffle maker designed for making thick Belgian waffles in just four minutes - just enough time for setting the table with butter, syrup, fresh fruit and other toppings of choice. Once ready, your waffles will slide right out thanks to the nonstick cooking plates. The exterior is made of sleek chrome with a cool-touch insulated handle. Near the handle is a light that signals when the waffle maker is preheated and ready to bake. For ease of storing, a latch on the handle closes tightly so the entire unit can be stored upright. Has a hidden cord storage area, and comes with a recipe booklet.

Krups Belgian Waffle Iron December 13, 2007 JDavis (Austin, TX United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've owned this waffle iron for several years and use it weekly, it has had a lot of use over that time period. It is reliable, I can set my kitchen timer for 4 minutes and my waffles will be done. Use the front tab to open and remove the waffle. The tab locks in place for storing. I don't advise using the handles they get hot. (It seems intuitive to me to use the tab but I have seen criticism concerning the handles.) Because the iron is hinged it allows the waffle to rise as it bakes. I use a slight amount of spray oil from time to time but it really doesn't need much. I use slightly under 1/2 a cup of mix for each of the 4 waffles. Use a little less mix and let the lid spread it for each waffle and it shouldn't run over. If it does, it isn't that hard to clean up but if it runs down the back of the iron that is a little more tedious to clean up. I've used a number of different waffles mixes including whole grain and multigrain waffle mix from Arrowhead Mills and the Carbon's Golden Malted waffle mix. I never have to change a setting, they always bake perfectly. I like this waffle iron so much I am debating getting several more for Christmas gifts. I know they will make delicious waffles. Pro: Good price. Dependable. Easily stores standing up in the cupboard. Makes 4 quarters at a time. Con: Can run over if over filled. Handles get hot, use the locking tab to open.

This is the second one I've owned. The first lasted almost three years the second one about a year. They make fine waffles, however there is no timer or browning settings. If you over add the recipe, it will make a mess. The biggest issue is reliability. The first just died, no lights nothing. This one the lights come on but it no longer heats. I believe it has a faulty safety. I never immersed them just wiped them down.
