Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This has been Factory-Refurbished to perform as new. It comes with a Capresso 1-Year manufacturer's warranty.

Though this combination of features may be found on espresso machines, this is the only American coffeemaker with a conical burr grinder and a stainless steel Thermal Carafe together in one handsome unit. Just pour in the beans, program the time with the amount of coffee to be ground, and the Capresso CoffeeTEAM Thermal does the rest. Awaken each morning to the aroma (and taste) of fresh brewed coffee Also, because this coffee machine includes a thermal carafe, your coffee will be hot for hours without reheating!
Choose from 4, 6, 8 or 10 cups and select mild, regular or strong. You can even program two completely different settings, one for manual operation and one for automatic operation. This way you always enjoy exactly the same coffee taste. The bean container holds up to 80 grams of coffee. Detachable see-through cover lets you check the flow of the ground coffee and makes is extremely easy to clean the grinder channel.

4 out of 5 stars makes good coffee-easy to clean   November 30, 2008
Laura White (richmond va)
The coffee tastes great - easy to use - much easier to clean than the older cuisinart model. however - user error - i forget to push the cone unde rthe grinder about once a week and come down to hot water - annoying but soley my fault!

I am thrilled with my new coffee pot. It makes things so easy to have fresh ground coffee at the push of a button. It is simple to use and cleanup is so much easier than my old pot...the old one was very difficult to clean if you needed to make a second pot right away.

Here is a letter I just sent to Capresso, I think it sums it up rather nicely. I finally gave up on my Coffee Team Therm this morning. The swing basket mechanism is pure junk and you still continue to sell this garbage to the public. I bought my first Coffee Therm about 2 years ago from the '1st in Coffee' website and it worked for about 3 months before the basket mechanism quit working. I sent it back to be fixed and received it back in approximately 3 weeks. It still did not work so I sent it back again. They gave up trying to fix-it and sent me another one. The swing basket quit again!!!!! This is NOT what I expect after spending $300.00 for a piece of garbage Coffee Pot that makes no better coffer that a $20.00 "Mr Coffee". The coffee Grinder would also miss the hole some sprinkling coffee grinds all over the counter when or if the basket did swing over. The Therm bottle would spill water everywhere if you poured it a little fast. This machine was taken extra special care of after having to send the previous one back twice!! I fixed it permanently this morning as I broke into a thousand pieces this morning as I was so mad at you product. I thought it would be better to take it out on the Coffee Therm as you salesman or company. However I will now go out my way to slam you garbage product every chance I get. When I find any local 'Coffee Store' that sells your products I will make it point to go in the store and steer people away from your products. Then I will go loudly discuss the problems I have had with you products with the store employees so everyone in the store can hear. I see by reading more reviews on this product that everyone is have these problems, but you are still selling this garbage as a premium Coffee Maker. This is a disgraceful practice and needs to identified publicly so I will also go to all website that sell your products and leave a copy of this email. Everyone will be warned when I get finished.

Good Riddance!!

3 out of 5 stars Good maker with 1 major design flaw   November 8, 2008

This was pointed out in a CoffeeTEAM 454 review, but I don't believe it's been confirmed in any of the 455 reviews (until now). A short plastic chute exists between the grinder and basket, essentially housing a large quantity of ground beans from your previous grind. I brew 4-cups daily on the strong setting, and the result of this chute is that anywhere between 50 and 90% of the grounds used to brew my coffee are actually the result of the previous day's grind and a very small percentage are truly "freshly ground." This is not only very disappointing from a quality perspective, but if you change beans or grind fineness then you essentially need to brew a scratch pot of coffee before the changes take effect. Very, very disappointing.

That issue aside, I would consider the quality of coffee to be average to above-average. I've not found the brewing to be particularly consistent (surprising quality, considering the burr grinder). The brewing temperature does seem to be a positive attribute. Personally, I drink my coffee black so I'm required to wait a few minutes after pouring before enjoying but the warm temperature does indicate a favorable brewing temp (I believe ideal is around 200 degrees).

Cleanup is remarkably easy. My first grind-and-brew machine was a Cuisinart with a blade grinder, which required daily cleaning of the grinder, chute, and basket. The only cleanup required of the Capresso is the basket (either 20 seconds of cleaning out your filter with water, or 3 seconds to toss out a paper filter).

I've had this unit for 3 weeks and have brewed Starbucks Caffe Verona and Peet's Arabian Mocha Java beans. The Starbucks was a little disappointing (which may have been the beans) and the Peet's oscillates between average to quite-good (as I mentioned, the brewing seems to be inconsistent).

Perhaps it's the beans (Peet's is generally considered to be very, very good coffee) but I've not had an issue with the strength. I brew 4-cups on strong (using 4 cups of water) on the most-course grind setting and the flavor seems to be on par. I didn't have as much luck with the Starbucks, so for those who have had issues with coffee being "too weak" I would recommend considering a better bean (www.peets.com - no I'm not affiliated, just a fan).

The thermal carafe works for me. I'll generally brew 4 cups in the morning, consuming 1 mug (2 cups) immediately, and enjoying the 2nd mug about 30 minutes later. The carafe keeps the 2nd mug tasting just as good as the first. One sometimes overlooked aspect of the thermal carafe is that it negates the need for a heating plate, preventing you from ever having to worry if the machine is left on.

I am considering returning this unit for either a Krups KM7000 or a Cuisinart DGB-700, but haven't been able to pull the trigger just yet. I don't believe any other grind-and-brew machine in this price range brews at as high a temperature as the 455 so for those of you who prefer cream or milk in your coffee it is likely your best bet.

3 out of 5 stars Love the grinder, not the carafe   November 3, 2008

I've had both Melitta and Cuisinart Grind and Brew coffeemakers and my husband and I were tired of the tedious cleaning of the Cuisinart models. After having two Cuisinart models die after a little over a year of use each I decided it was time to try something new. I purchased a refurbished Capresso 455 Coffee TEAM Stainless Coffeemaker/Burr Grinder unit about a month ago. I was somehwat hesitant after reading some reviews of how complicated, or less than intuitive, they are to program but I referred to the owner's manual and was able to program everything I needed without a problem. I love the bean storage, multiple grinding features, and the ease of cleaning between brew cycles. I have not yet cleaned or descaled the machine, but don't anticipate any problems with that. Weekdays we'll usually make 1 and a half pots of coffee, weekends two or three. The only issue I have with the machine is the thermal carafe, the first cup or two are wonderful but remaining coffee in the carafe cools off quickly; preheating the pot helps, but that somewhat defeats the purpose of having a timer to allow you to wake up to a nice hot, fresh brewed cup of coffee. I usually end up reheating anything after the second cup, unless my husband is drinking it as well. It's still early and I do like the pot, but would recommend one with a warming plate instead of the thermal carafe if you like hot coffee and want it to stay hot more than 60-90 minutes.
