Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This teapot, complete with a large infuser, is designed for brewing whole-leaf loose teas including black tea, green tea, herb tea, oolong tea and more. The mesh bottom infuser gives you a perfect even brew every time, and it comes with an easy-to-grasp silicon-covered handle and lid. This teapot is also ideal for use with teabags. The teapot is dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe, and the infuser is dishwasher-safe.

5 out of 5 stars The Perfect Teapot   March 26, 2008
Chaos Reigns (Cambridge, MA)
My family loves this teapot. The color is great (Chartreuse), the shape is very pleasing and we've used it daily for 2 years, so it's sturdy. And the infuser is the best one available for whole leaves.

I hate mesh infusers because they deform easily and are hard to clean (small leaf particles stick to the mesh). But this pot's strainer is a perforated stainless tube with a mesh bottom and cleans easily.

The separate lid flips over and serves as a drip plate when you remove the infuser. Silicone trims the metal, preventing hot surprises. I have no problem holding the pot handle and clamping down the lid and infuser tab with my thumb.

I bought an extra infuser which fits my generic stainless travel mug perfectly. Great for the office.

My family loves this teapot. The color is great (Chartreuse), the shape is very pleasing and we've used it daily for 2 years, so it's sturdy. And the infuser is the best one available for whole leaves.

Many teapots come with mesh infusers, which deform easily and are hard to clean (small leaf particles stick to the mesh). But this pot's strainer is a perforated stainless tube with a mesh bottom and cleans easily. It's also deep enough so that you can brew half-pots. Plus the separate lid flips over and serves as a drip plate when you remove the infuser.

I bought an extra infuser which perfectly fits my generic stainless travel mug. Great for the office.

2 out of 5 stars You'll need a separate strainer if you want a clean brew.   February 9, 2008

The infuser is disappointing and gets 0 stars from me because the holes around the sides and the mesh on the bottom allow small particles to pass through making it entirely unacceptable for brewing rooibos. I know this is for the designated types of whole leaf teas, but even whole leaves get bits broken off with the small pieces passing through the infuser.

Because this 18 oz. teapot's capacity is 26 oz. to the lower rim, 24 oz. usable, there isn't much room in the infuser to let leaves swim around when making tea for one or two servings because the water level is so low. I quickly decided to chuck the infuser into the back of the cupboard and use my faithful Empress Tea Room tea strainer instead. This way, the leaves get to expand with the freedom of all the water and I get a clean beverage.

The body of teapot is good and the handle stays cool. I haven't the knack for pouring so it's dripless, but sometimes, I'm very close. The lid, being stainless steel, gets really hot. I have to use a pot holder or folded towel to hold it in place while pouring because the lid isn't silicone-covered, only the edge where the silicone is too narrow to adequately protect my fingers. I have to hold the lid while pouring because it slips and the gap appearing between the lid and rim allows steam to hurt my pouring hand. OW! Putting the lid on upside down is much better because the underside has a slightly wider silicone edge and, more importantly, a silicone ridge that I can put my fingers on. I'm sure the ridge is to keep the lid from sliding off while pouring, but since that wasn't working out for me, I had to go to Plan B.

Overall, I like this teapot for my intended purpose which is for long road trips. It's very easy to clean and I don't have to be concerned about breaking the lid. The spout is close to the body so it's not likely to get jarred and crack or break off like a longer protruding spout might. If the infuser was up to snuff, the lid improved with more silicone to make it easier to touch, and if I could pour it 100% of the time without dripping, it would be a 5-star purchase because I like the body of the pot that much.

The teapot arrived promptly and was well-packed although the "beautiful gift box" was nothing more than a regular product box. I bought it in "Black" which is printed as "Black Graphite" on the box which is actually charcoal gray. It doesn't matter to me that it's not true black because I wanted the dark color only to camouflage tea stains which it does extremely well :).

This is the best little teapot. I have this in the Red and its just stunning. I get complimented on it all the time. Its really functional, allowing you to microwave and safely dishwash. The top turned upside down also serves as a place to set the infuser when taken out of the teapot. I am making this a gift for all my friends this year.

this tea pot is great! very satifing to the hand, nice heft, does not dribble, retains it's heat, just the right size for 2 12 oz cups. Liked it well enough to order the larger off of "Sur La Table" for 4 cup size. I collect tea pots and for everyday use this is the nicest/most useful I have.
