Horrendous Service, Good Product June 16, 2008 Paul Johnston (Hoboken, NJ USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had the unit for about a year, gone through about 10 kegs and have only had to fill the CO2 tank once (initial fill-up). It works great, though the drip try is impossible to empty without spilling if it fills up. Luckily, I've had to deal with Haier only once. The following is my adventure dealing with their Customer Service Department (each date represents a different day I called Haier): 5/24 - order shipped 6/1 - order delivered, did not receive parts including: 1. 1 Beer Tap 2. 1 CO2 Regulator 3. 1 Washer for connecting CO2 Regulator to CO2 Cylinder 4. 1 CO2 Cylinder 5. 1 Keg Tap (American Sankey Type) 6. 1 Cleaning Kit 7. 1 CO2 Gas Line (Red Tube) 6/3 - called customer service, told them the parts I was missing 6/4 - faxed proof of purchase, was told parts would arrive in 7-10 days 6/6 - was told order was "processed" and would arrive in 3-5 days 6/9 - was told order was processed but had not been shipped. it would ship "today" 6/13 - called, was told order not yet processed. expect shipment 7-10 days after processing 6/15 - was told order would ship "today" 6/21 - got call saying parts would arrive "today or tomorrow" 6/22 - received package containing two 1/2" washers and a hose clamp (mind you the parts I was missing include a 10-lb CO2 tank and the package I received was so small it fit in the mail slot for my apartment) 6/25 - called and told them i received wrong parts, ordered new parts, was told to call back in 2 days 6/27 - was told that everything was good and to call back in 2 days to get tracking # 6/29 - called and was told that they needed my proof of purchase, faxed POP, called back and was told to call back next week to get tracking #. 7/6 - called and told that order would ship 7/9 7/10 - received package with missing parts So after 12 calls over 37 days, I finally got the parts that should have shipped originally. I had ordered it in hopes I'd have it up and running for my birthday, but no dice. Hopefully, you'll never have to deal with Haier, but if you do try and be patient. If patience isn't your thing, I recommend buying from another manufacturer.
Great beer but don't roll it around! January 10, 2008 G. Poshkus (Upstate NY) I've had this unit for about six months and I'm quite happy with. You have to play around a bit to get the temperature and pressure right. Once they are set right though, you can switch out a keg without having to go through the whole routine every time. Flushing the lines is no better or worse that with other kegerators. I like the unit because I can serve great draft beer at a slightly lower cost per glass than cans and bottles. I LOVE not having to deal with returnables any more! There are two downsides to the kegerator. First, I had visions of rolling the kegerator around in my house or on my patio. The first time I tried, however, the frame members holding the rollers bent and nearly snapped off. Better to put this unit in one spot and leave it there. Second (and this is common to all kegerators), you'd better have a VERY stong back or a keg dolly because even a 1/4 keg is extremely heavy.
Great value and easy to use!!! December 6, 2007 Todd Bullock Let me start by saying that the negative reviews of this product seem to be due to the missing C02 washer and the temperature regulation. First, when you go and get the CO2 tank filled for the first time, they give you a washer. So they don't even really need to include it in the box. Any place that fills C02 tanks will give you a washer for free. Second, what is the problem with 40 degree beer? Last time I checked, my fridge kept beer at 40 degrees and that was fine for years. My keg fridge keeps the beer between 34 and 38 degrees. I have not seen any problems with it being to warm. Other than that, you cannot beat the price. It comes with all the items you need, except beer and C02. If you are planning to get any keg fridge, please do yourself a favor and find out who sells C02 in your area before you buy it. Kegs are easy to find. Co2 is harder to come by. For the money, it is definitely the best value among keg fridges. It was easy to set up, and the casters make it easy to move around. Also, it can be converted into a mini fridge if you do not have a keg in it. The instructions were not that great, but that is OK since set up was very simple. Todd
Haier Beer Dispenser July 6, 2007 Gutierrez (Elk Grove, CA) This is an entry level kegerator at best. The evaporator on this unit is limited to the back of the interior cabinet so it's difficult to maintain optimum beer temperatures, plus the so called "Automatic Defrosting" feature is basically turning the compressor off so the unit warms to the point the ice melts..., hardly automatic. For the best performance, invest a couple hundred more dollars for a unit that has the evaporator panels on three interior walls for more consistent temperatures.
Good buy! January 18, 2007 S. Starnes (Raleigh, NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After some research and a number of conversations with a friend, I opted to purchase this product. I have to say, it's awesome! The beer stays cold and is readily available; probably too available. :) My ONLY complaint is that the fridge has a few scuff marks on it that appear to be the result of the packaging process (not the shipping). But after a little assembly and a couple of beers, those scuff marks weren't much of an issue. Also I'm quite impress at how quickly I received the product; within 4 days!
