Great Coffee Maker! December 2, 2008 Ann (Chicago) I bought this product at a store, then came home and was really worried after I read these reviews. I like strong coffee with a good bit of milk so it has to be hot. I also worried about the noise. But I have been really happy! One person commented on the fact that if you put 8 cups of water in but set it to 6 cups, it will still make 8 cups. This is not a design flaw - this is to help you get the strength of coffee you want. The "cups" setting is for the amount of coffee to grind, not the amount of water to put through them. I do the opposite, i put in 6 cups of water but set it to 8 cups, while having the grinder set to "Strong." This way I get a nice strong cup of coffee. I haven't had any trouble with it not being hot enough, and I pre-set it the night before, so I don't have a chance to pre-warm the carafe. I do agree that the carafe is difficult to pour out of when it is "closed" - I just open it to pour, not a big deal. It's not super quiet grinding either, but I agree with another reviewer that grinding beans is going to be loud, not much you can do about that. If I'm not up when it starts grinding, I should be getting up anyway and sometimes knowing that coffee is on its way helps :-) It doesn't wake my kids. The only problem I've had is that I didn't realize about cleaning out the grinder. After several weeks, I found myself with hot water instead of coffee! Once I realized, I cleaned it - took quite a while, since I'd never done it before and there was obviously a lot of buildup. Now I make a point of cleaning it whenever I refill the beans, about every week, and if I'm in a hurry that time for some reason, it can wait until next time. It's very easy with the brush they give you. I just make sure the basket is in below, and adds extra grounds for the next pot. I've had it for about 4 months now. I'm very happy with this pot and would recommend it!
My favorite purchase! November 30, 2008 Nancy Holyfield (Nashville) When my coffee grinder broke, I decided to purchase this coffee grinder/brewer with some hesitation. I have to say I wish I had bought it sooner! One of the best things about it besides the wonderful coffee is that there is no mess from transferring the ground coffee from the grinder to the coffee pot. It does tend to use more coffee than I normally do so I set it to brew 2 cups less than I really want. It works out just fine. Two friends have bought this product since I bought mine and they all love theirs as well.
coffee pot November 29, 2008 Arthur L. Jacobson (mamaroneck, ny United States) In theory, this is a great product. In reality it doesn't work properly. Too much effort goes into cleaning each time as well as NEVER getting the proper amount of beans ground.
Excellent, especially compared to previous versions November 22, 2008 A. Kolotylo (Canada) I bought this after my older model Cuisinart Grind and Brew started to break down (after only 1 year). This model is easy to clean, the beans can be kept in the hopper (no need to measure) and it has a perma-filter. Very low maintenance and it makes a great cup of coffee. This one is far superior to the prior models, which required disassembly and cleaning constantly. The older models also had a leakage problem. Cons: I did waste a few batches trying to get the strength settings just right, and during the grind cycle, it's very loud.
easiest grinder ever November 17, 2008 S. gannaway (alabama) If you like ground coffee every morning this is the best. Dial in what you like and set time. Unlike the cheaper version you do not have to keep cleaning out old beans and the grinder
